How about that rain last night?

I was on my way home from school (From Columbia MD to Bowie MD) about 8pm. It was still light out, although it was drizzling lightly...

I went down 32 towards 95, and by the time I got on 95, the rain was coming down so hard, visibility went from pretty good to about 25 ft. I was motoring along about 50 (still faster than everyone else) and saw I was coming up an on overpass... Under the overpass, I saw I was only about 3 car lengths from the back of a semi-truck. Without the overpass to block the rain, I likely would have gotten closer.

Rain continued downpouring for the next 30 mins or so, the worst of it resulting in the Beltway from I95 to MD50 slowing down to about 20mph, with every single car in front of me, across all 4 lanes driving with their hazards on.

My left sock even got wet somehow, inside of my Dr. Marten boots!

Today it's beautiful and sunny, a nice 75 degrees... Almost like nothing happened yesterday. But my computers upstairs aren't working anymore. I think the UPS or Surge Protector between them and power died, but everything else not hooked up to the UPS seems to work.

Anyone else get caught in last night's onslaught?

I was in it last night from 4:40 till about 9:00. I had to go to St. Joseph's Med Center for my step mom. I was on all the beltways during the storm.

Got caught in it driving home from Alexandria. At one point I really thought about just pulling over and letting it pass. Had every light that comes with the car on and was still worried about being seen since I could just barely see everyone else on the road. Right lane on the road completely useless due to very very deep puddles (a special thanks to all those motorists out there who decided to drive through the very deep puddles anyway and truly added to a great test of how much water the windscreen wipers could handle at any one time.)

Ended up sitting in the parking lot of Target until it broke. Really needed potty paper!

We had the Twister Warnings down here in Stafford to go along with the festivities. As usual the Fredericksburg area took a direct hit with trees down all over and some pretty bad car wrecks.

I got all the onslaught of pregnant women coming in to the hospital ready to drop those kids. Old wives tales are true. Water breaks when it rains. TONS of babies when it is a full moon. GAWD I was busy last night.

I wasn't driving in it - but watched it from my hotel room - also while watching Survivor... The lightning from the 10th floor looked pretty awesome... Glad to see that everybody made it home safe and sound..

Just wait until Isabel, Part II comes this way in Sept.

Then you get to see no power for a week
