DCMM "Billiards, Arrows & Ale" - Sunday, March 26

I don't know about all of you, but I'm itching for some beer, pool and good company in a nice British pub setting... how about you?

A few weeks ago, I stumbled onto this place with a friend of mine. It was a great time - good food, free pool & darts, and don't forget, thanks to Montgomery County laws, no smoking! (Smokers can still step out onto the sidewalk to get their fix)

When: Sunday, March 26th, starting around 7pm or 7:30pm (i.e. just show up).
Where: Union Jack's British Pub in Bethesda, MD
Bring: Money for food and drinks. Pool & darts are free on Sundays! Parking in the surrounding garages is free on Sundays too.
RSVP: Just reply to this thread if you are coming... no specific number limits. UJ doesn't get very crowded on Sunday evenings so there should be plenty of space.

Directions are on the website above, but I'll paste them in here anyway:

From Northern VA:
  1. Take I-495 N/Capital Beltway (toward Baltimore) and cross over American Legion Bridge.
  2. Take the MD-190/River Rd exit- Exit 39- toward Washington/Potomac
  3. Merge onto MD-190 E/River Rd via Exit 39B toward Washington
  4. Turn Left onto Wilson Ln/MD-188
  5. Wilson Ln/MD-188 becomes St. Elmo Avenue
  6. 4915 St. Elmo Ave. Metered parking available on street and in parking garage.
From Baltimore:
  1. Merge onto Capital Beltway/I-495 W via Exit 27 toward Silver Spring
  2. Take the MD-185/Connecticut Avenue - Exit 33- toward Chevy Chase/Kensington
  3. Merge onto MD-185 S/Connecticut Ave toward Chevy Chase
  4. Turn Right onto Jones Bridge Road
  5. Turn Left onto Rockville Pike/MD-355.
  6. Turn Right onto Woodmont Avenue
  7. Turn Right onto St. Elmo Avenue
  8. 4915 St. Elmo Ave. Metered parking available on street and in parking garage.
From Maryland via I-270:
  1. Take I-270 S toward WASHINGTON.
  2. Merge onto ROCKVILLE PIKE/MD-355 S via the exit on the LEFT toward BETHESDA.
  3. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto WOODMONT AVE.
  4. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto ST ELMO AVE.
  5. 4915 St. Elmo Ave. Metered parking available on street and in parking garage.
I hope to see some of you there! Come on, what else are you going to do on Sunday night?

Rats!

I don't normally reply if I can't attend, who needs a list of those not coming!

But I wanted to say GREAT idea sounds like a blast! If it weren't Dad's birthday I'd be there. So count me in for the next one!

Hey, if people want to show up earlier, nothing wrong with that. If possible, Sally and I might show up early too... there really doesn't have to be an "official" start time!

Aww, too bad Mark - but yes I'm sure there will be plenty more to come.

Looking forward to meeting you - just look in some of our galleries for pics, so you have an idea who you are looking for. The MINI of Sterling and British Pantry pics from last Saturday are a good place to start.

I hope you make it, Marina... and we'll be more than happy to teach you the basics in pool. Don't worry, there will be a diverse range of skills there, so you'll have fun regardless. Just watch out for the sleek pool shark wearing black, who is bringing her own cue.

I really want to come, but I have a dinner with the family (parents are up for the week) if I can get away early I will try to stop by. Nothing is better than beer and projectiles.

Impressive menu, but unfortunately the only pie I saw is Shepherd's Pie... their focus is more on British food than Aussie / Kiwi food. What's particularly amusing is the naming of their dishes. Mind you, I LOVE shepherd's pie, so I don't see it as a big problem.

I should mention that there will be some additional non-MINI-owning friends of mine coming as well... so go easy on them.

I'm not good at darts either, but I hear the ale does increase accuracy!
