Oops! You would have been cutting it really close though, depending on exactly when and where you fly from. I plan on having the lunch a bit later than we would normally have it, so it will be a lot easier for us to 'take over' one of the local restaurants.

Ah well, there's always next time!

Re-RSVP'ing for the 8th! One MINI, Two people.

And thanks, Paul!, I will borrow one of those radios you are offering. I'll bring mine along, just in case, but I highly doubt they are going to work. I'll be happy to bring some fresh batteries or something to contribute for the loan of the radio, just let me know what kind.

Not too much. I stopped by the place that I would like to have the lunch at to check on the menu & availability. I still need to talk to management (who weren't available today) to verify time & details, and to make sure that they're ok with the amount of people that we're going to bring. It shouldn't be a problem though. Maybe even a fixed price menu.

I don't want to give the name of the restaurant until the details are in place, but if we don't do a fixed price meal, it looks like about $15 will get you a sandwich, beverage, tax, and tip. For those who spend more, $20+ will get you steak / ribs / seafood.

Watch this thread for details!

Ok, I have a draft route now up. There's a chance that the first part may change a bit, and I'm still missing some details, but this is what it looks like so far!

Paul, Please take me of the RSVP list for now. Got a call Friday night from a good friend who has been living in Australia for the past two years. He is flying in to see his parent's, who live in Richmond, the weekend of the 8th. Only time he will be in the area. Since we probably won't see each other for another two years so or, I am probably going to drive down to Richmond on Saturday to spend the day.

Sent an e-mail to RSVP but decided to also post here -- 1 MINI and 2 people. This is my first driving event so I'm really looking forward to it. I have a friend in town that weekend, but she thinks it sounds like fun too so we'll be joining y'all.

ok, I called the Jury Duty office and trials don't take place on weekends! I have someone who is interested in covering my shift at work, so as long as the boss approves, I'll be there. I will ask today and get back to you.

Is this radio thing required? I have never done any of these events as I just now got my car today! Would I have time to make it to RFK stadium by 4 PM kickoff?

Radios aren't required, but very, very recommended. We use the radios not only for pleasant banter, but also for warnings (pedestrians in the road, bicycles, obstructions, etc.), notices to the front that the rear is lagging due to traffic or othersuch, making sure we're still in one group, and other items. Even if you're not comfortable using a radio while driving, its good to have one handy and powered on just to listen to for the above reasons.

As for making RFK, I'm still not sure of the start time, so I'm not sure of the end time yet. However, no matter what, you should have plenty of time to do at least the first half. If by the time we stop for lunch is getting close to the time you gotta go, you could just leave then!

Hey all, just to keep you all updated,

I know that you're all waiting for the start time and restaurant confirmation. The situation is that I'm waiting to get the RSVP list from the new event coordinator (Dave) so I know how many people to expect. Once I got that, I can pass that info to the restaurant, and they could tell me at what time they can handle the crowd. I want to do it early (as in 9 or 10 AM departure), as the beginning of the route around Annapolis has the potential to be crowded with traffic the later we start, and that's just no fun. But, if the restaurant can't handle us until 1 or 2, there's no sense in leaving that early.

Dave just emailed me telling me that he'll have the info to me today, so hopefully I should have the info (RSVPs and start time) up tomorrow or Sunday!

-Paul!

PS - Cool news, Sally!

Paul! -- I hope we'll be able to make it. I have some outpatient surgery the next two Thursdays (carpal tunnel problems -- one wrist/elbow per week) and it depends on whether I can drive or not

WOOHOOO!!!

Finally we will get to attend our first DCMM event!

That will be 2 people in a purple Mini (and we did RSVP by email). I'll have an extra radio along in case anyone needs one.

Hmm, good point! If the weather cooperates this weekend, I plan on doing some route testing, and I could show you a thing or two if you have the time! Otherwise, I'd be more than happy to give a lesson after the run.

And a side note, on the run I did last weekend down to the Cooper Vineyards, when we stopped at one point for a break, I had the guy motoring behind me ask what I did to my MINI (as in performance enhancements). I said nothing, and he was surprised. He explained that when I made a left turn from a stop sign, I took off, and it took him more effort than expected to catch up to me. I smiled and showed him the 'kicker', that I'm driving a lowly CVT. He was then really surprised! Oh, and he was driving a MCSc with factory JCW!! I had an ear-to-ear grin the rest of the drive!
