I was actually in DC/Manassas/Woodbridge/Dale City/Culpeper all weekend (yeh, 400 miles in one weekend) and everywhere i went everyone was talking about the snow that's coming on Monday.

I thought they were crazy when i left Bumpass this morning and it was 42*, but the temp dropped on the way to work, then the snow came. I hope it doesn't stick, i'm scared to try out the MINI in the snow with my parent's out of town to rescue me just in case.

Okay, the one thing I LOVE about Vallarta -- the weather. This morning, it was about 55 degrees. Cool enough to not have AC on overnight. This afternoon it will be bright and sunny about about 85 degrees. This evening, it will cool off again for sleeping.

I miss my family, my cats, my husband, my house, DCMM and my job in DC. But I DO NOT miss the weather!

Good luck with any snow you get. I will be thinking of you. I am sure I will get to see plenty of the white stuff when I am back (and freezing) in January.

I'm screwed... I've been having all kinds of struggles getting the winter wheel/tire combo I want, and as a result I still have the performance tires on here at work. I'm sitting in my office now, expecting a late night - I won't even TRY to go home in traffic. I also have a change of clothes (including snow boots), so if I have to walk home, I will. I will probably try to drive home WAY WAY after rush hour, at about 10 mph, with the hazard lights on.

I HATE SNOW. Even WITH the right tires, I still hate it. I just call it white s**t. It looks pretty for one day, then it gets dirty, sloppy and messy... and the salt they dump to deal with it messes up our cars.

My favorite season of the year? Spring. Why? Simply because it means 9 more months until winter!

Some of us are NOT happy about the snow. Some of us have deadlines that must be met, snow or not, so even if the office closes, we only get MORE pressure afterwards.

Your joyousness is not reciprocated.

And i'll be forced into taking yet another vacation day. I like to use vacation days for pleasure, not to be stuck at home alone with snow.

I miss my family

I swapped to my 4 seasons on my stock slites just in time..
This will be my first snow with the Mini.. not too excited.
I need to study the map and figure out a way to get home. The only road I know is from maple ave to Lawyer's rd, huntermill rd. Can't imagine driving there when it gets slick.

we all get deadlines ... no wait, your right. I was responding to mdsbrains Government quote. Federal Government has no deadlines. They haven't even got a budget yet!

OK, this is for EDGE ... Think ...

... but not if you have JCW brakes.

Since only two 16" wheels (both OEM) are guaranteed to fit the JCW brakes, per JCW... I have three directions I can go:

1) Wait for the 16" R94 "Bridge Spokes" to become available for purchase. The MINI dealerships have the part numbers, they have the prices, but they are so new that they are still not available.
2) Buy the 16" R87 "Double Spokes", which are available, and will also fit the JCW brakes. The problem? They're only 5.5" wide, so ideally I need to find 175/60R16 winter tires to go on them. And those are tough to find here in the USA.
3) Bite the bullet and buy another set of 17" OEM wheels, ALL of which are guaranteed to fit the JCW brakes. I'm torn between buying the heavy-duty 17" R85 "S-spokes/S-lites" at 25.1lb each, or the 17" R91 "5-spoke Bullets"m which are the lightest OEM 17" wheels at 20.6lb.

So you see, I've been trying to get ahold of the R94s, but I'm awful darn close to pouncing on another set of 17s.

Yes, I know that 17" steelies are available, but I still can't be certain they'll fit the JCW brakes, since all of the Tire Rack fitment options are based upon stock brakes.

why does it ding at 37*? I always wondered this.

And roads are getting messy... and i'm stuck here til 5. Doesn't help people want to hang out tonight... and i'd rather do that than go all the way home... but the pets need to be fed, so i get to sit around the house alone dying to drive my poor neglected MINI.

Ok, not so neglected if i put 500 miles on him this weekend... but i'm sure it's taking some getting used to not being able to drive around all of a sudden

The ding at 37 is like a little warning that the roads could be cold enough for ice to have formed on them.
