There is a large old Chinese restaurant in Charles Town that was not too bad last year. That's the full extent of my local restaurant knowledge.

Nice menu, merely OK service, in a cool and very large old building. Shu Chen Chinese Restaurant.

Same. I'd still be willing to get together for dinner or something though. Wife doesn't get off work till 6, so thats when we'll start our trek from Bowie. Didn't mention to Cottonwood B&B that it was a Mini thing, only that we were attending Summit Point Raceway. Hehe, oops.

I'm going to be leaving work at noon today to head home and pack up everything I need. I should probably be in WV by 4-ish. If anyone wants my cell number i'll give it out via a PM or email. I'm not willing to post it to a message board.

I'll be joining you on Saturday AM. I won't get out of work in time tonight to fight rush hour to get there tonight.

Good news that the MINI passed inspection this morning!

If any of you have ever organized anything for more than one other person you can appreciate the magnitude of what Gina is being asked to do on her own. Instead of poking her in the eye I think we should be thanking her for staying on top of this event (as well as her many other roles) because in all seriousness if it weren't for her we probably would be looking at a canceled event all together. If we want to have a fruitful discussion about the issues surrounding the event then we should speak with Chuck tomorrow. Thank you, Gina, for getting everything put together. I, personally, am looking forward to a kick *** day!

Great time

Just wanted to say that I had a great time yesterday and holy crap what a difference it was driving with an instructor! My only issue was that my name was not on the list initially- concerning since I did pay and my check was cashed. But, no worries, Gina took care of it. It was good to meet so many fellow motorers and I'll be looking for you around town.

Cheers

Fantastic!

What a incredible day. This was my first track or driving school exper of any kind and I am impressed. The organizatin of the drills and instructors was great. You could certainly tell they had done this before.

I was REALLY impressed by my car. Like, WOW I enjoyed it on the Dragon but what a eye opener to play on the track with a instructor there beside me.

I had a blast myself. I have quite a few pictures I took of some of the other people on the track. I'll post up a URL later when I have them all organized.

Some of the cars I have been able to identify so I know I have pictures of:
  • whovous
  • W3IWI
  • Mark Matarella
  • JNT (James)

If you were running in a group with any of them chances are I have picture of you too.

Just got back. It was an awesome time. The wife hung out with the other spectators, and though the day got long by the end, she said she had a great time overall.

Everything went swell imho, except for class starting a bit late, and cutting into track time... But such is the nature with such events. It was still a good time. Will have pics up in a bit in my gallery.

thanks to mini of towson and especially gina for pulling off this event!!

i'm very impressed what my vehicle could do in the hands of my instructor.
it was even more impressive to ride the same track in a full race prepped M3.

any hopes of dcmm doing a track day??

I will never, ever ever allow myself to allow an event like this to slip away again, unless I know 100% for sure I won't be able to make it.

I'm very happy to hear that you guys had a fantastic time... but I am equally unhappy that I missed the cutoff. Nobody to blame but myself!

I hope to see more of these events in the future.

one of the folks in the blue group was able to snap up one of the two cancellations by just showing up that morning!!

pretty gutsy since it was a two hour drive from balto and the last part was thru some seriously thick fog!!

I had such a great time I don't think I stopped grinning until about 9:00pm (when I fell asleep). I am sure there wasn't anybody else there that didn't have huge pile of FUN!!

Kudos to Gina, excellent job. Thank You Very Much!!

There were 2 WRXs that were running, they came with the guys who work at Towson. The Mazda was one of the instructors cars.

Posted video of the red team on the track in the afternoon, in the NAM Camera forum. Sorry for the poor audio, didn't mount the camera tight enough, and the windows were open.

My favorite part is where my instructor points as the S in front of me, and says 'I know you're faster than that car, go!' or something like that, and all I could think was that we were in the same car, as the only performance mod I have is an alta intake. Hehe, I passed the other S anyway.
