None of the hotels are anything special. Spectators were welcome last year.

I called Summit Point Raceway and asked about 'in car camera' rules, and they said they didn't have any, and that it would be up to the organization hosting the event, and suggested calling Mini of Towson.

Anyone know the answer to this, or should I give Towson a ring?

I believe at last recordation it was:

Saturday
  • Matt
  • Mark M
  • Mark W
  • Tom
  • Wagnbat
  • Lcubed
  • John B
  • James
  • Marina
  • blown9746
  • whovous (?)
  • L8RG8R

Jen and Michael might be coming on Saturday too (pending a behaving schedule).

Anyone figured out anything more about a place to stay in the area? I really don't feel like having to drive to WV early Saturday morning. I figure we could all group around the same place and amaze the locals.

which one is being subjected to 'behaving'?

as far as where to stay, the knights inn was fully booked on friday night.

the summit point website has some pointers for 'nearby' inns.

Last year, I think most of us stayed at the Turf Motel. OK, and inexpensive, but not memorable in any way.

Last Year's Event

I have been a member since April but only have attended the Dragon event in May. I did go to the Towson event last and had a great time. The morning was set up as classroom time, slolom, breaking and skidpad. Helmets were not required for the morning events. The afternoon was 2 track sessions, with helmets a MUST. Instructors were provided for all participants, and people were able to share a vehicle.

I believe that it will be on the Jefferson circuit since the Shanandoah is being used by PDA, and the main circuit by a sports car club.

As for the price of the event, it is cheaper than all other HPDE, FATT etc... events that I have attended.

Look forward to meeting everyone.

Jeff

Hotels.com says the sleep in is a bit pricey for a simple overnight stay:

Sleep Inn And Suites

Winchester / Winchester

ALL ROOMS HAVE FREE WI-FI HIGH SPEED INTERNET SERVICE, REFRIGERATOR, MICROWAVE, IRON/BOARD, COFFEE MAKER, HAIRDRYER, AND LARGE WORKING DESK AREA.
Price per room
from Sep 9 to Sep 10$ 94.05 - 149.00
Oh... And I'd be interested in everyone staying at the same place as well, but time is getting short considering we'd prolly have a lot of people at one hotel, which may or may not have room.

Man, the info on the cottonwood inn B&B is hard to find. Finally found the info, and the place looks awesome. I've reserved room 7... And they only have 7 rooms. Teehee. The gent on the phone says rooms 1 & 2 are also taken, so that leaves 4 rooms open if anyone else wants to jump in there.

Gina -- I saw John today (Wed) and both his son and him are still good for Saturday. They are bringing two cars -- his personal street Red MC and his new Red #4 SCCA G Stock MCS. His phone at the shop is 410-489-0230.

Both. Neither one of us has control over our work schedules

I will be there Saturday, Michael won't. He has to work.

Just an FYI for anyone else interested, I called Gina @ Towson, and she said of they didn't have any 'in car camera' rules/restrictions if Summit Point Raceway doesn't.

I had my MINI inspected yesterday and grabbed a flyer.

All it says is 6:45am to 5:00pm. I imagine there will be information at the track. When I went to VIR for school, the guy at the gate told me where to go.

Dammit! I just called Gina on a whim, to see if any spots were open (the last I had read here a while back, there were still open spots?), but she said it's booked solid, with 10 people in the waiting list!

Ah well, I guess I should have gotten in earlier... but I couldn't be sure I could go until now.

I hope you all have a great time - and I hope there will be more track and/or autocross events soon!

The deadline for Towson owners to register was like 16 July. Everyone who got in after that is kinda lucky... But if more people got on the waiting list, they may re-open the second day.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Mini of Towson is paying for a portion of the event, and not having a full group of people show up means they lose more money because they pay the same either way. If enough people get on that waiting list (I believe the flier says max 45 per day), they may open it back up... But time is short, as the event is about 9 days away.

.
when i registered in mid august, only 10 spots on saturday had been spoken for, and 9 on sunday. i'm glad i got the flyer w/ the dcmm membership kit, otherwise i'd never have heard of this event.

when Gina called about the sunday cancellation, i asked what the minimum it would take to open sunday. i was told 45.

i was also told it was the max.

pretty tough criteria for reopening sunday.

(i'm in if it happens since we were originally signed up for both days)
