July 4th Parades - Capitol Hill and Annapolis
July 4th Parades - Capitol Hill and Annapolis
Looks like there is demand for MINIs at both events - the Capitol Hill is a morning kiddie parade and the MINIs last year were the absolute hit of the parade (right up there with the firetrucks).
I don't have details about either parade - here is what I do know - The Capitol Hill parade is in the morning - and the Annapolis parade is in the afternoon.
I know there was consensus in the group to send MINIs to the Annapolis parade - but do members think it's feasible to also send some MINIs to the DC Parade so we're represented there!?
I'm unfortunately out of town in Maine over the fourth so I won't be able to attend either one.
Your thoughts and if you're committed to one or the other or both.
Thanks!
Kurt

Marina and I were talking about it, and it looks like if we get enough people interested, and possibly get Tate to send a couple, then we could be on for the morning too...
But understandably, she doesn't want to make an appearance with just a car or two.
Edit:
Oh. And I'm willing to do both parades.

capitol hill is easy to get to from whereever you're coming from - and you can use http://maps.google.com or http://maps.yahoo.com to get directions to and from your house so you won't get lost. :-)

My offer of our house for car cleaning(bring your own supplies, we'll provide the space and water) still stands. Anyone who wants to can picnic here as well. Just understand that our house will still be under construction hence it won't be spotless.
Depending on the weather, we could picnic down at our beach (on the Severn River)where we have picnic tables and a playground and a swimming area. There should be plenty of parking....
So, come one come all...
Just let me know, either on this thread or via email: kgdblu@speakeasy.org if you're coming to my house so I can be prepared.
This could be way fun!!

Come to think of it, we should figure out a similar staging point for Annapolis as well. Then we can arrive at the staging area for the Annapolis parade all at once. What will probably be done is that the parade organizers will have a staging area (probably a parking lot or side street) off the kick-off point for the parade. One of the parade marshals will essentially direct traffic and ensure that the groups go off in order and properly spaced apart... Plus if we show up as a single group it will probably be much easier for us to negotiate through the road blocks and such around the parade route.
Yes, I've done a few parades..

Capitol Hill Parade
Yes,
Our MINIs are officially invited for the 3rd year on the row to be part of the Capitol Hill Parade. I can give the final count to the organizer by June 29.
The Capitol Hill Parade is in the morning (it starts at 10:00 and takes about 45 minutes) it's a short parade but it's fun. We don't need to decorate the cars for this parade unless you want to decorate your car in the morning and then touch it up for the Annapolis Parade.
I am willing to meet the group again at the same location as last year. I think Micheal is right: It is better to arrive at the parade as a group.
James and I as soon as the Parade in DC is over will go to Annapolis; people participanting to both parades can caravan with us.
Please RSVP in this forum.

Capitol Hill Location and Mtg time
8:30- 8:45 off Ohio drive in Potomac Park.
Coming from VA you'll take I-395 North across the 14th Street Bridge. Take the US Park Police exit. At the end of the road, make a right. Make another right at the river (it's the only way you can go). The lot will be on your right past the Park Police Headquarters Building between the two railroad bridges.
Coming from DC, Enter Potomac Park behind the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and go past the Jefferson Memorial (it should be on your right with I-395 on your left) Make the first left past the Jefferson Memorial onto Ohio Drive. The lot will be on your left between the two railroad bridges. I'm assuming we will leave the Park for the parade formation at 9:00 am
Feel free to contact me with questions and/or more info.
If you are running late and cannot meet us at the above location go directly to Capitol Hill - Eastern Market- and call me. 202 251.3907
See you'll there.
