I always make it a point to stop by this thread and specifically invite all new members to come by my DCMM cookouts... I'm having on August 9th in Alexandria, the thread is here with all the info. And yes, a couple members to be have come in previous years that hadn't even recv'd their cars yet!

Welcome to all the newly 'caught'. Oops, I mean 'joined'.

Well my Mini has arrived!! 200 miles so far... I changed my order from a automatic to standard, now to get use to this shifting all the time :-). I'm having a ball, are there any other Mini owners in the Waldorf Md. area?

I'm thinking of adding the rear roof spoiler, has anyone done this after the cars been built? any problems or suggestions?

2008 Mini Clubman S Black roof, racing green body.

Thanks
Donnie

Several months ago I stopped over at Murky Coffee in my blue '06 Mini and a really nice gentleman from the DCMM walked over and gave me his card. I have to confess I never got around to following up, though, as work and other isues diverted my attention. However, circumstances have changed and I'd like to get in touch with the club since I've decided to upgrade to a Clubman. Sorry to double post, but here's what I wrote on the thread about the great residual value of Minis. I'd love to hear from any DCMM members on whether to go JCW or not as described below:

I just traded in my absolutely base Cooper (only option was sport seats) and got $17,500. Kind of amazing b/c I only paid $18,000 in Dec '06. So, if I do the math correctly, my car had a 97% residual value on the purchase price of $18000 and a 94% residual on the MSRP of $18,700! It's making the decision on pulling the trigger on a new Clubman a little easier, that's for sure.

Speaking of which, I'm trying to make the call on whether to order a Clubman S with GPS Nav, Premium Package, and 18" wheels or a JCW Clubman with the Premium Package only. Affordability isn't a problem for me between the two, but I don't feel comfy going any higher on the JCW Clubman as it's already about a $5K swing in price. Therefore I probably wouldn't think about adding any more to the JCW. Any thoughts on which way to go based on experience with the nav system, wheel size, prior experience with '08 JCW dealer modified Coopers, etc.?

Can't speak from personal experience, but there was a good talk to this point on White Roof Radion (podcast) whereby their advice was get the Clubman S and use the 5K aftermarket for a more streetworthy bang for the buck.

http://www.whiteroofradio.com/ The most recent episode as of when I posted this, but for future reference Episode #263.

I just offer that as an opinion, not mine from experience, but something worth considering.

Well, after a lot research and thinking I decided to order a factory built JCW Clubman as opposed to going the dealer install/aftermarket route. It seemed like the best option for someone like me who wanted a great package but was not particularly excited about mechanical modifications post-purchase. Now it's down to the color decision. Pepper white with black roof is the front runner right now, but black with silver roof and the seemingly ubiquitous (yet super cool) red with black roof are still in the running. Still have a little time before I have to lock it in.

So hello folks and I keep checking here to see the latest social gatherings. I had too much going on and got my MINI too late to attend the outings, but i should be able to make the next one.

cheers!

I think you made a great decision! The JCW will be something very enjoyable right off the lot! And, ya never know, over the coming years, aftermarket items may appear for it as well if you find yourself still wanting more. Enjoy and happy motoring!

Hello everyone!! Now that I've officially joined the club, I figured I'd stop by the New Members thread and say 'hi'.

I went to my first DCMM Meet & Greet today. Had a great time, met many folks, most notably (actually, the only ones I could associate with handles): MiniNurse, Scavenger, and Green Cactus. Of course there were numerous others whose real names I recall but who shall remain anonymous here, since I wouldn't want to give away their true identities.

Thanks for the great welcome to the club. I look forward to drivin' with all y'all!!!!

BTW, unbelieveable: I've had VIC for 10 days and I'm finally closing on passing the break-in period with 1100 miles. I'm not sure sure what's taking me so long!!!

Yep thanks. The Clubman's on the Tortugas right now arriving in NYC on the 23rd. My MA at Mini of Annapolis is hoping for a Halloween delivery, and as luck would have it I have a business trip to Pittsburgh on the schedule for early November. That ought to take a chunk out of the break-in so I can go full rev on the JCW!

Welcome, Gary!! Just a few days earlier and you wouldn't have had to wait a month for a club meeting!! Next one at Towson, I think!

Of course, you could come up to Towson for the Otto-toberfest! I think there's still room!! See the Sticky Thread for the topic for more details!!!

BTW, PlayPlay, that Astro Black MCS of is gorgeous. Was that yours at the meet & greet Saturday? I mostly got names, so when it comes to nicknames, I'm not sure who I met. The Astro Black MCS at MoA on Saturday was a beauty!!

Hi All,
Just joined the DCMM since am at home recovering. Felt good enough to give Littlebean his first bath, though it wiped me out and put me back on couch rest. Can't wait to meet up with you all in future events. Do people bring their kids to any of the meet & greets or other events? Do many couples come or mostly drivers / owners?
