DCMM Tech Day/MINI Hose Down-Saturday,April 2 10:45 am

We'll meet again at the fabulous Glenelg Service Center for our third Tech Day, this time focusing on car care on Saturday, April 2nd. A short classroom session will be followed by the chance to clean up your MINI for Spring with a group car wash session. We'll be firing up the BBQ's for a pot luck lunch.

Date: Saturday, April 2nd
Time: Meet at the garage by 10:45 am
Lecture: Starts 11:00 am
Car Wash: Starts 11:30 am
Grill's Fired up: 11:30 am
Lunch until: John throws us out!

MORNING DRIVE ADDED: Meet at the garage at 9:30 am if you are interested in doing a brief (1 hour) tour of roads around the area. Route starts and ends at Glenelg Service Center. Route maps will be provided. Please be sure to bring your FRS radio if you are going to participate in this.

Address is:

Glenelg Service Center
2480 Route 97
Glenwood, MD 21738

Phone: 410-489-0230

Bring: A potluck dish to share with the group
A folding chair
A folding table for your food - if you can
Got a portable grill - I have one I will bring and a second or third would be great!
Your own car washing materials - sponges, buckets, soap, wax, glass cleaner
Patience: John is on well water, which means we can only have one hose going at a time.

Don't Bring: Burgers, cheese, buns or condiments. The Club will provide those for everyone along with plates, cups and silverware. DCMM will also bring some Coke and Diet Coke. If you'd like to drink anything else (alcohol not encouraged, as we all have to drive home) please bring it with you.

RSVP: To Events@dcmetrominis.org by March 25. When you RSVP, you will get an e mail back requesting the event fee to be paid through PayPal. Fee is $3.50 per person for DCMM members and $5.50 per person for non-DCMM members. Children under 12 no fee.

Is this a "Hose Down" or a "Ho Down"??? Do I need to supply the Bluegrass music? (Prep for the Dragon)

Ho Down, all I can think of is the Jeff Foxworthy quote: "If somebody yells HO DOWN and your girlfriend hits the floor..... You might be a Redneck!"

I'm thinking if you are welcoming it -- you might not know what it is

This sounds like a fun time. I can bring our hibachi again if that will help. I also have a folding banquet table, but I'll have to see if it fits into the MINI before I can promise to bring that.

How about a short road rally too? There are some nice little roads right around there if anyone's interested.

The hibachi was very helpful last time!

And, if you plan a driving route, we will drive it!

Okay, the banquet table I have is 73 inches long, 30.5 wide and 3" thick when folded. That's too long to fit in a MINI without protruding ~30" out an open boot. If someone has a roof rack, that might work to transport it. Otherwise we'll need a "support vehicle" to transport it. Let me know if anyone wants to stop by to pick it up and bring it to and from the event.

Aw, man... that sounds like fun... I'm sorry I missed the previous events, and I'll miss that one too (I'll be out of town).

Hope to meet some fellow MINIers next Wednesday though, at the Towson MINI event!

I have put together a little route to motor on if some would like to. I'm thinking we could run it before the 11:00 session and the car washing. It would start at the shopping center across from John's service centre. It takes a bit less than an hour to run.

Would we want/need route sheets and all that or just "follow the leader"?

If you want to e mail me the file, I will print it off and have them available. Could be 20 odd cars. Might be too much for follow the leader. What time would we need to meet to be back at Glenelg at 11:00 am or a little before?

Val and I will have to work on the route sheet this weekend. I only have some highlighted roads on my map right now.

The whole route should only take ~55 minutes. So we could meet and hand out the route at 9:30. That’s not too early is it? If we leave at 9:45, that should get everyone back by 20 before 11:00 to leave time for more talking and whatever.

Sounds like a plan! Thanks for doing this.

This event is THIS SATURDAY. Please double check your calendars and RSVP. For those who were at the event at Tate MINI last October, this event promises to be even more fun!

P.S. - Whoever made that really incredible fresh salad has either got to come or send me the recipe!

Pps

I have to go food shopping for this event this week, so RSVP's would really help me make sure we don't run out of anything!

We do not have a rain date. I hope we don't need a rain date. Looks like rain Friday with a chance of rain Saturday AM. I'll make a call on Friday morning and talk to John about a rain date if necessary.

I might just be able to make this one! w00t!

And my car is in sore need of detailing.

If I come (I will know for sure near week's end) I can bring along my handy-dandy gas-fired George Foreman grill if need be.

woot? this weekend? Could have sworn I had more time before this one.
I will be able to make it. So what sort of food stuffs are needed? I could make some of my fantastic honey mustard chicken and it could be re-heated on the grill. I'de just need to know about how many people to make it for and such.

Maybe my order will be in from Autopia also, lots more microfiber towels and some plastic/vinyl stuff.

Honey mustard chicken for re-heating would be fantastic. Make enough for about 15 people if you can. That should be enough for everyone to get a taste.

Greatbear - another grill always welcome. I have my portable gas Coleman and Mike is bringing a Hibachi.
