Does DCMM have a thread going about this years MOTD? I didn't see one going and was curious how many are going or are considering going.

I"m going... Made my Fontana reservation for the Inn the day they opened it for this year. I haven't done the MOTD registration yet.

I'll do that after I get back from FL. Still busy finalizing stuff for this FL trip. All topsy turvy 'cause I found out a Space Shuttle is tentatively scheduled for launch my second day there. 'The MINI' is going for a ride on the Auto Train.

 

I wish I could join. The schools isn't finished by the date. I really don't want my kids to miss classes.

May be in the next 4 or 5 years though.

Awww... The kids can miss a Friday! It's an awesome time to be had by all!

 

I'll be making my virgin trip there this year.

 

I will be there - went last year and to MOSD last fall, a great event and lots of outstanding runs and roads in addition to the Dragon!

 

I've never been and would really like to go this year, but I'm not sure if i'm gonna be able to make it work.
Anyone know the average price per night to stay down there?

 

Depends on a few things.. where you stay, who you stay with, etc..

 

We're going again this year. Like last year, not heading down until Thursday morning.

CCC777 will be motoring down I-81 with us. If anyone else is heading down Thursday, let me know if you want to join our small group.

 

I just checked the schedule, and IF i could make it work for us to go down, I think Thursday am would probably be a better time for us also. I'll have to get back to you though. I still haven't checked out lodging info and since i've never been before, i have to learn the area first! =)


Can some of you please tell me where you're staying and what you're paying nightly (if you dont mind me asking so bluntly...)? As i said, i dont really know the area so i'm not sure where the good locations are to stay. I know ideally we'd all like to be as close to the Dragon as possible, but even that only means so much to a Dragon newbie =)

 

We'd love to have you along for the ride down and back !!

As far as lodging, we have a two-bedroom Azalea Cabin (renovated) right there at the center of all the happenings... Fontana Village. Now, I'm embarrassed to say, I'm not even sure how much it's costing. IIRC, it's about $220 a night (??). We're sharing the cabin, which helps keep the cost down, of course. Lots of Dragoners do the same.

If you want to stay there, do two things:

1. Get your name on the waiting list. There are always lots of cancellations and the waiting list goes fast. You may just luck into a room in the lodge or one of the cabins.

2. Keep checking the thread here on NAM about lodging. Someone might need a couple of "roomies" to share their cabin if their other cabin mates drop out.
