MINI production screw up

Help Emergency!!!! I just received a call from the sales manager from Mini Annapolis. They were calling me back as I wanted 100% verification that Little Bean was in. Well, it is but its wrong...... Anthracite head liner is not there, it is the lighter color, they did not do the black rear pillars and I guess the side mirror covers, etc. My orig. order was HC, HC roof, with blck pillars and mirrors to match. They want to make it right but now they have to wait to hear from Mini direct and get the parts in. No time estimate. Any suggestions? Should I take it as is or make them fix? And then what would be reasonable to ask for something for my trouble of having to wait longer? One more thing, when i first did my config, it was for a 2008 model. Then they asked me to re config as i was going to get a 2009. So now find out that there is the roof rack and bike attachment on there. Does anyone know if the rack / bike rack are a permanent install? From what I know is the base rack goes side to side and then there is another contraption to actually hold a bike. The manager was not sure...Help need to give them an answer soon.

Roof rails if configured are a $250 option and are permanently installed. The crossmembers are not permanently installed.

Check with your MA - it should be either silver or black rear pillars. If you did body colour roof - your mirrors will be body colored. That can be easily rectified by substituting black mirror caps.

Anthracite headliner would nto be a deal killer for me - and I like the Clubmans with the roof rails! Looks like that long roof has a purpose with the rails.

Evan -

Did you check the VIN? It seems unusual that they'd get so many things wrong on the order. Sounds like they might have the wrong car.

My .02....get exactly what you ordered or you will never be 100% happy. If you have to wait for what you want I would. It will make you feel better in the end and you wont have to ask yourself why didn't I get exactly what I wanted.

Easy there - it sounds like a fluid situation, and he's understandably a little wound-up. And how is he supposed to "check"? All he has to go by is his paperwork, until someone actually sees the car.

The OP's fault? Nice way to jump to an unsupported conclusion.

I can tell you from personal experience that my MA at Mini of Annapolis screwed up my order, and I know exactly what options I ordered (and in my case, didn't order). Three threads might be a little excessive, but you can hardly blame the OP for being a little anxious over spending a fair amount of time, energy and money on something that someone else then screwed up.

Maybe instead of chasing the OP from thread to thread to point out how he or she messed up, you could offer constructive advice or -- even better -- just stay out of it.

On that note, It seems like everything but the headliner can be swapped out pretty easily. I agree with the person in the other thread who advised against letting the dealer mess around with that. I'd be inclined to hit MoA up for a decent discount (to account for the headliner and general hassle) and then stay on the dealership's case about the other stuff. Their parts department is terrible, so you'll really need to stay on them -- trust me.

Good luck.

geez..let's try to be a little nicer here. How is this the OP's fault? Seems the dealer screwed up, not the purchaser.

Sorry Cybergypsy, you are wrong. My order was confirmed when it was to be a 2008 model. And re confirmed when I was informed it would be a 2009 model. It was I who tracked the car. It was I who saw that it was in port. It was I who gave that a week and called the MA who told me a truck was in but not positive mine was on it or not. It was me who called the next day and was told they would have to search the parking lot to verify it was there, so I asked for the Sales Manager. When he called me at 7:30 PM last night is when I was informed my Mini was there but with wrong headliner, no mirror caps, no pillar covers, and a questionable roof -bike rack. So I think production is at fault, dealer for not knowing this when I called initially, and I am worried about re-install of headliner and questioning the bike rack. Thank you

Just wanted to say thanks for everyones .02, advice, etc. Have decided to go see it, most lilkely make them fix it and try to get some comp for the two 130 mile round trips it will take to correct the car. Maybe stripes or driving lights.
thanks again,
Little Bean

To avoid screwups when ordering a MINI I've found the following helpful for future MINI purchasers.

Take the MINI configuration you want and work with the MINI Motoring Advisor - make sure you print it out. Every feature that you've picked including color and roof caps and roof color be sure to initial it.

Then sign the printout containing your initialed options and have the MA sign the printout. Once that is done, have the MA pick an order slot, and have them configure the car with your options and then print out the build sheet with your production number. All of the items that are on the build sheet should match your agreed upon specification.
