Mike's Midnight Madness run (proposal)

Hey MINI folks,

I am thinking to do the midnight run on December 6th, the destination will be Antietam National Battlefield for the "Illumination" they do every year. Here's the link: http://www.nps.gov/anti/planyourvisit/luminary.htm

I'll check the latest hours but the last time I was there we waited in line quite a while, the run would start around 5:00pm or 6:00pm and go from there.

Interest ?

Cheers,

Mike

A great idea... but on December 6 I will be on my way to visit my family in Australia, so I'm afraid I can't make it!

Midnight run on Dec 6th and it is Saturday.

I'm definitely in.

But, where is Antietam National Battlefield, by the way?

Seriously....when we went back in 2006 one of the locals proclaimed "There's one of them MINI Coopers" I thought I'd die giggling !

Leona had the thought we should do dinner before but then how's the stomach going to take that ?

That's a workday for me but depending on when the festivities begin, I may be able to make it.

As I've mentioned, I'll be out of town for the next two weeks, so planning and a route will begin when I return.

What do you guys think about grabbing dinner before ? My co-worker says "a full stomach is less likely to swish and sway than a half full one"

There are some great roads up this way but we must be careful with the night driving pace, not to mention the roadkill hazards !

As long as the pace is, shall we say, 'gentler' than our usual spirited run, a full tummy might be a wonderful addition to the evening!

That's what I'm thinking, just a good smooth drive with a few twist to liven things up a tad, sort of a Harley mood instead of a crotch-rocket mood ? The illumination will be cool, I just can't express the feeling you get when you see how extensive it is, just mind boggling to think we as a country fought on our own ground with such ferocity......

I also want to do the Burtonsville Sunday Car Show, "mini-run" and lunch (Did you say "Tandoori" ?) in November. I just need to get my head on straight after the craziness that I have been through (and heading into) as of late.

A good pirate "Arrrrrrrrrrggghh" has been a common expression from my lips here lately....

Our Clubman should be in by then. Unfortunately, our MCS will be in Florida with the kid. This sounds like fun. If at all possible we'd like to tag along!
