Hunt Country Classic - All British Car Show

I thought I would see if there is any interest in going to the Hunt Country Classic - All British Car show on Oct. 12, 2008. The show is located just outside of Middleburg, VA at Bill Scott's (owner Summit Point Raceway) farm. I have a friend who has a restored MG and I have attended this event a couple of times. It is a very popular event and there are many beautiful Vintage British cars that are on display.

Here is the link if interested in more info.

Man, I haven't seen Bill since 1978! I'd LOVE to hang out with him again. This looks like great fun!

Had not heard about this one. It looks like it might fit in the schedule.

Not to steal the thread, but when you pull up this link http://www.mgcarclubdc.com the two events at the end of September are also interesting.

The Annual Meeting of the Marques is featuring Daimler. A friend of mine has two SP250s. Carol and I will be driving one of his cars and he and his wife will be taking the other. This is a link to the flyer for the event. He will be driving the red Daimler on the flyer.
http://www.svvscc.org/newimages/form..._mom_flyer.pdf

The Annual MGs on the Rocks is another good show with a variety of classic cars.

The other thing about these shows is that you can go on some great roads getting there.

Scavenger, are you familiar enough with that area to create a run? Perhaps we can meet at the Trader Joe's in Centreville again...

We could probably use part of the route we did on the Spring run to Griffins Tavern. I don't recall if I kept the route sheet but I will check.

It sounds like fun already.

May be we can have Va leg and Md leg, plan to join together at some point, and caravan as a big group to the event.

Just my 2 cents.

May be using parts of the DCMM picnic run and go pass Point of Rocks and go south to Va from there.

Minirab, Claymore and MrMellowYellow would be best to know all the good twisties around the area.

One of the BEST British Car shows ever!! We used to go every year when we lived back there. Little plug - yes we won a couple of times.

http://www.mgcarclubdc.com Same link as above. When you open up the web site, click on Gallery. Then click on Member Gallery. Go to the 2nd page of pictures, - 3rd row down - The Red MGA taken at a covered bridge - "The Kacmarciks MGA" Yeppers - that's ours - Yayyy!!!!

There are some REAL beauties that show up at Hunt Country. Definitely worth a drive out there...

Hey Donna, I was talking to a co-worker about the show because her husband owns a MG that he restored and as soon as I mentioned your name she blurted out "are they from California?"

Cheryl and her husband (NAM does not like his name ) told me to say "Howdy" and they hope all is well with you guys"

It is a small world ain't it

Are "new" MINIs welcome? Some classic owners consider our cars to be German, so I wanted to make sure before we get all excited about this.

Katie, - here is the link to the official site: http://www.mgcarclubdc.com/hcc/hcc_main.html

I would contact the email address on the link and ask. Although the Registration form does not specify a cut off on the year make or model, I can't recall any new MINI's being there the years we went. But just to be sure, I would contact them...

I don't think anyone said anything about entering. I thought we were talking about going to the show as spectators.

Yea it doesn't mention new cars so I don't think so. The Britain on The Green show (Alexandria in the Spring) is a bit different in also welcoming all contemporary British cars too. I'm uploading a video from that show as we speak and will add it to this post when complete, for your old British car viewing pleasure.

Actually, CDC is holding a fun rally from Springfield, Va to the car show see below:

Are you going to the Hunt Country Classic and are looking for a fun way to travel to the show with other British car enthusiasts? The Capital Driving Club has just the ticket…
The First Annual Octagon Rally

The Octagon Rally will start at 8am from Springfield, VA*** and follow a series of interesting and scenic roads to our destination at the Hunt Country Classic hosted by the MG Car Club DC Centre.

Unlike other rally events, this will not require any complicated directions, clues, or in-car timing equipment. The rally has been designed so that participants can drive at their own pace along a pre-determined route. The specifics are as follows:
  • Each team must make a reservation on-line by visiting the CDC web site at www.capitaldrivingclub.com in the “Schedule” page and click on the Rally on October 12th.
  • Each participant arrives and registers at the Springfield starting point at 8:00 am.
  • At registration each team gets a set of directions (from Mapquest) along with an estimated elapsed time to drive the specified distance per Mapquest.
  • Each team will estimate their own expected elapsed time to reach the car show
  • As teams are ready, they will depart at about 1 minute intervals.
  • As each team departs, the team will be given an electronically stamped time card that they will need to present upon arrival to the car show.
  • When arriving at the show, the team will get their time card stamped again and turn it into the Rally organizer at the show.
  • The team with the actual time being closest to the estimated elapsed time wins. Tie breaker rules would be the shortest estimated time, followed by the team that went below rather than over their estimated time.
  • Door prizes will be awarded for the winners, as well as others who perform in some extraordinary way – most break downs, fastest time w/ out a speeding ticket, etc…
Based on the route, we estimate that most participants will reach the show within two hours, so if you are showing your car on the show field, we will make special arrangements for you to be among the first to depart from Springfield so that you can be there on time.

The cost of the rally is $15. (Note that there is a $5 per car entry fee for the show).
