Install Parties

So...i have a question.

Other friends of mine who are in different car clubs-- their clubs have install parties. Everyone who has bought new accessories/parts for their cars all gather at a members house (obviously one thats large enough) and they do their installs there, so that the other members can learn how to do it as well.

Does DCMM do anything like that?

Maybe i just missed the thread...?

I just know i really love my car, and I'd love to know more about it- and how to work on it.

Yea, my mazda club has one once a month. I've got some parts that are going to need install soon so we should put something together. I think we were throwing around some idea's in the CAMM section:

It is actually a lot of fun and you get to learn something at one of these install parties. I helped/watched aj-mini install a supercharger pulley and it is amazing how much was involved it that. So far I have installed an exhaust system, cai and other miscellaneous items but I was on my own. Tomorrow I am going to install my sway bar at work in Sterling since someone will be there to help.

I have a house w/garage in Chantilly and would be happy to host an install party in the future

See ya on the road, Brian

That's a really cool idea.

Also, earlier Funktion Auto has mention that they are more than happy to co host with DCMM a "DIY" day (do it yourself) at their facility.

I've done a couple at my house for my bmw e30 buddies. It'll be a bit before I could host another though because my garage is filled with boxes. I'm def. game to help at any event.

I've suggested people do that most years at my cookout. I've got a garage, jacks, stands, air tools etc. If nothing else folks are invited to do so at my August 9th shingding.

Last time that I have talked to FA, they will let us use 4 of their lifts, also 2 of their tech in case any of us have question. We need to bring our own tools though. They said they can accomodate the event on Sat from 10am - 3pm, we need to let them know the actual day ahead of time.

I think it is a good idea. (at least for the lifts usage ).

On their side (FA) is a go. They are waiting for the club to make a confirmation and decision on the date with them.

I'd be interested in going to an install party. Looking for somebody who knows how to install the factory driving lights. I really don't want to pay $600 to have the dealer do it.

That's a long drive from DC. You might want to ask this question in your local forum.

Sweet. Any idea if we can do it somewhere with lifts? That'd be really sweet.
