MINIs spotted in Annapolis
MINIs spotted in Annapolis
Drove our MC down from NY this past Saturday (didn't realize you'd be meeting for breakfast at Tate, but wouldn't have made it early enough) and we always see a couple of MINIs parked in the historic district... Spring has already gotten a much better foothold in beautiful Annapolis - just in time for the 26th Annual Croquet Match of St. John's College vs Navy.... St. John's won.
But the most exciting part of our visit was that we counted 18 MINIs birthed in the historic district!
Quite amazing. Really, it's the perfect town for a MINI. If any of you live there, you're quite lucky, indeed.

Actually, I don't think they do - but really it was on Sunday that we counted 'em and I'd say that they were natives.
Are you from Annapolis? Oops, I see you're not - though I'm sure you have some native Annapolitans in your ranks.

Yes, sir (or ma'am), there are quite a few of us on here (except mine was in the body shop when you drove through) and probably many more locals who aren't aware of the whole community. At least more who don't wave than do.
By the way, nice color combo for the one on the way.

MINIS have been ubiquitous 'round these parts for about 3 1/2 years, at least.
Yeah, the waving stopped for the most part about then too...
It was fun though, while it lasted..
I'm in Severna Park, just north of Naptown.

Thanks for the compliment on the color combination - I see you're rather partial to it yourself.
I spent about 4 months in DC several years ago, was in touch with the DC group, but just couldn't make it to any events, however I did notice that there was a great lack of MINIs then until we hit Washington. Now that our visits to Annapolis will be pretty regular for at least the next 3 years (daughter at St. John's), I'll be looking forward to continuing my MINI count there. I took one photo that may turn out to be worth posting - if it is, I will. Annapolis is so photogenic and I do think that the MINIs look quite nice within the historic district.
Agreed, it is disappointing when other MINI drivers don't at least flash or give a nod of recognition - it's such a natural and easy thing, and it does kind of give one a momentary lift. Some of us just have to keep doing it when we can.
Oh - and in my case it's a ma'am.

Keep waving, thumbs and lights, whatever....sooner or later they'll get the picture !

Otra,
What a bummer it rained on the game on Sunday !!! Hope you had good time !!
If you were down in the Historic Distric your probably saw at least 5 MINIs parked within a block of St. John's - Two of ours from the SCUDERIA MINI (the Clubman and the GP) were parked next to each other, a few steps from a Black/White MINI - On MD Ave there is a Midnight Fire and around the corner a Pure Gold..

Well, then my sightings were quite limited, indeed! I did not see any of those 5 and would never have missed 'em, that's for sure. Must have turned a different corner - darn it.
I'd love to live in Annapolis - perhaps someday. Must get to my photos and see if this one I have in mind in particular worked out.
Appreciate all the responses from everyone. And, though it rained early on, the match did continue and we did enjoy ourselves. http://www.hometownannapolis.com/cgi...8/04_21-21/TOP
