[Sun, May 18th] MINIs BY THE BAY V
I'm amazed how such a simple task as putting on a run, especially one that's been done before, can snowball out of control so easily and effectively thanks to Ma Nature. It's been great fun, and I'd suggest that whoever leads this run next year plan it for the last week in April... that's when the lilac bushes are in bloom.
The wonderful sights and smells along this route have been worth all the extra miles, and I've discovered roads that I never knew existed. Overall terrific experience, which I wouldn't trade for anything.
<does dance and chants, 'no rain, no rain'>
I can verify the amount of work Ed is putting into this run. I lost count how many times he finished his PM's with a "...well, out to redo the run."
Anyway, he's doing in weeks what it took me to do in months and months!
And now throw in the weather changes?! Yikes.
Thanks, Ed! Your efforts are appreciated.

Good News!
Hey Gang-
Stopped by Rita's this afternoon and noticed a Black cabrio S in the back of the lot. Turns out the S owner also owns the store. She (and her husband, a county LEO - so be extra nice) have offered the club a discount for Sunday's visit! All you have to do is admit that you're a member of DCMM and they will discount something off the price (didn't say how much, but it sure is nice of them to offer to do that). It would be terrific if we could provide them with a piece of DCMM swag as a thank-you gift (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).
The gas station in Harwood where we'll be making our pit stop on the way down to breakfast/brunch/lunch is also looking forward to our visit (no discounts there, though).
And the BIG news!
Mother Nature shifted her winds from the east to the northwest, raised the barometric pressure, brought out the sun, and the result is that the roads are drying out! (see pictures below)
Checked the roads out this afternoon and here is what I found. The left picture is the infamous hairpin on Patuxent River Rd. Pictures 2 & 3 are the Patuxent River one lane bridge on Gov. Bridge Rd. Take a peek:

I may have to pull out for tomorrow's run. It's supposed to rain 80%. The last (and my first) run that i was on, it rained nearly the whole time. It was still fun but, well, it was raining a lot. I haven't decided yet for sure, i'll wait to see what it looks like in the morning. I just wanted to give the organizers a heads up, just in case. =) =)

Weather
Hi Folks-
Sorry to hear that the weather might not be perfect today. Sure wish I had more control over it.
I've designed the route to avoid any places where high water might be a problem (like where we cross the Patuxent River), so if that's what is worrying any of you, you can relax. You won't need an amphibious car to get where we're going and we're not driving through any mudslides. The roads are in good shape, all the debris has been cleared (including the mudslides), and when I made the final run yesterday things looked pretty good.
I also completely understand how going on a run in the rain diminishes the usual fun and adds to the potential danger. Each of us has to make our own choice about whether or not to participate. If there's a doubt in your mind, listen to it. It's there for a reason. Our runs are supposed to be about fun, and worrying about the weather and related safety issues won't add to anybody's enjoyment.
As Dr. Ruth says, "If it's not fun, you're doing it wrong."
All that being said, for those of you who still want to join us, we meet as described in post #1, and will leave promptly at 9:45am. Leaving any later might cheat the folks who want to eat at Rod & Reel out of some of the items on their buffet, and we can't have that!

Well, I was looking forward to the run, but I think I am going to bow out with a 70% chance of thunderstorms over there. Too far to drive from VA for a rainout. This is like the 3rd time this run has had rain
