Which dealership for warranty work?

So a couple days ago in my 02 MCS my FM, AM, radio's went out.
It stopped receiving stations. But my CD player/ changer still works.

So I was trying to see which dealership I should go to, to have them take a look.
I live in the Silver Spring MD area. All 3 dealerships (Towson, Tate and sterling) are about the same distance away.

So which one do you guys recommend?
Which one has the fastest turn around date for something as pity as this radio BS?

Thank you for reading.
Jee.

I think your '02 may be out of warranty (unless you have an extended warranty), but either one can do simple stuff like this....except maybe Tate.

I have been to Sterling (where I bought my car) and I do NOT recommend them. They just don't seem to care. I have heard horror stories about Tate, so that leaves Towson. I live in Rockville, BTW.

Yes, I did get the extended just in case of situations, just like this one.

Do they give loaners to people who didn't buy there?

For what it's worth, it seems at MINI of Sterling, YMMV - (your mileage may vary).

I just had my car in there last week. Not only did Yolanda help me with the problems I put it in for, but also checked my maintenance record and caught several things I was overdue for.

The maintenance guy, TJ, was very attentive and they gave me a joint call to follow-up on one item.

Coincidentally, I ended up with a new radio out of it, among other things.

Yolanda couldn't have been more attentive and TJ really seemed to be passionate about doing a complete and thorough job.

Not to say LynnEl's comments aren't accurate, but my experience was different and I thought I'd share.

Cool! Will def. give them a shot. My new office is in Germantown (although I will rarely actually be there).

I'm glad to hear this. Maybe the new batch of people are getting their acts together. On the other hand, since people only seem to stay there a week or so, it is a matter of YMMV.

WOW! I notice a difference already! When I used the website to schedule service at Sterling, I received no response at all for over a week. Then I received an email telling me when an appointment had been made for me. I just used Towson's website to make an inquiry and got an email back almost immediately, saying a real, live actual person will be calling me shortly!

Hmmm. If they don't give me a loaner, that's a deal-breaker.

Since when won't Towson give a loaner?! That is VERY surprising! I haven't ever had a problem there...but I haven't been there for a bit either.

It is usually Sterling who won't give a loaner (WILL for people who bought their car there) but requires anyone else to rent a car....

it seems everyone has issues with every dealer in our area.. Maybe I just need to move back down south People are SO much nicer!

And they "fix" your rough idle problem by pouring beer into the carberator. True, first-hand experience. Yeah, I know the Mini doesn't have a carb, which makes me shudder at what the new fix would be.

Something about I scratch their back and they scratch mine.
She told me it was a new policy at their dealership.

So we'll see what happens

Sounds like their loaner fleet isn't big enough to handle the exodus from Tate.

Never had a problem getting a loaner from Crown MINI of Richmond. Mine was bought at Tate.

The policy will change when all MINIs from around here go there for service.

Everyone seems to be negative on Tate--I assume due to a negative experience but mine has been positive. Calvin is my SA there and has been great. Last service I had my son take the car and they had no loaners but gave him a no-cost rental car (Car purchased from MoS). I have a SES light on and Calvin agreed to take me first thing this coming Friday and work on it while I wait. I guess its just hooking up with the right person and being a regular that helps get better service.
