[Sun, June 1st @ 10:00am] DCMM Summer Kickoff Run & Picnic

Don't forget to have your RC ready for the day.
Woo hoo..... It was fun doing the dry run today.
I had a blast, very nice road indeed. Lots of twisties to play with.
Thanks to MrMellowYellow for his effort and for the well-planed route.
I really had a good time today, with two hands holding steering wheel guided MINI through all twisties, shifted gear, operated 2-ways radio, phone and email, and taking pictures.
Below are the best that I could do while I did all those things.

(note: this is an artist's interpretation of what the picnic day will be like and NOT an actual photo)
Actually, today the grass was much greener, the sky was bluer, and the view was spectacular. This is going to be a great event, and after having been on the dry run today, I can vouch for the quality of the roads. Great twisties, amazing views of mountains and valleys, tiny little roads that disappear into the woods, majestic vistas that open up in unexpected places, and ending at a spectacular park with a catered lunch. Can't wait!

P.S. Didn't see the happy little critters there, though. Maybe they'll come out after the club arrives and play with the club kids!

The roads and the views were so awesome, I felt like stopping on every turn to take pictures.
Below, we stop for the pictures of full bloom Azaleas along the route.

WHOA, I didn't see that at first, but when I was scrolling through the pics and saw it....
OMG... I don't know what to say... well, yeh I do, but it's not appropriate for this board

Great photos, Maxicooper! Thanks to him and Hypnohealer for spending Monday with me to give me feedback on the roads.
It's looking like it'll be around an 85* mile route +/- and will fill all two hours I allotted.
Should be a really fun run.

* Oops...Maxicooper just called and said he did the route this morning and it's just under 75 miles. Nonetheless, it'll fill every bit of our two hours.

There is one section of the route the I would love to have the pictures of it, but I wouldn't be able to.
A section is a blind 100 feet drop with twisties.
I couldn't let my hand off the steering wheel to grab the camera.
W'ell be there
Great pics guys - I'm sold. Glen, some more yellow for the twisty vistas - can't wait to join you on those roads , took Franklin Gibson road today with the kids after the rain ended and it was great! I hope you're planning on joining Hypnohealer's run this weekend! Franklin Gibson Road is just one among the many awesome roads Ed has in store for everyone.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank DCMM and the board for their generous contribution to the picnic.
We did not state this properly yet. DCMM is paying for a portion of each member's price! This is why guests are paying $26 (the estimated per person cost) while members are paying only $15.
Thank you to Katie and the rest of the board!
