JCW Suspension Install & Warranty

If I want to retain my existing warranty, does that mean I need to get the JCW Suspension installed at a dealership? Or Can I just buy the part from say Morristown Mini and then just bring it to a prefered garage?

If I recall, the SA puts your key into a device to read the info off of it , so everytime you bring your MINI into the shop, it is recorded. I don't see why not, but you may have t oexplain HOW the JCW part got on there if you need work done later.

A dealer can't void your warranty on anything unless they can prove that part caused a problem. So having a Mini sold part put on by someone else for sure can't do it.

For the easiest use of your warranty have the parts purchases and installed by a local dealer. If you want to try and work it cheaper and go with the laws then get it cheap and have a bud install it.

But in the long run the only way to have it done with no questions asked is at your dealer.

Thanks for the input...I would like to have the dealer install it, but Helix is offering to install it for $150 where as Morristown Mini is asking $850. What up with that?

Dealerships and some vendors (you know who you are ) use the "book" calculation. If the book states that it will take 6 hours to install, but takes actually 2 hours, than they charge for 6 hours.

As long as it is done right, that's all that matters to me. You can't put a price on that.
