We've got one in Frederick. We get over there once a week or so. Perhaps we could get a Rita's run in Frederick one afternoon.

Shall we contact Rita's and tell them that we will arrange an Italian Ice run and will visit some of their locations in our area?. And maybe they will let us have some complimentary sampling of their products upon our visit.

If you like Italian Ice, I know of a place in Rockville that has CHEAP 1/2 price Italican Ice and gelatis (cup layered with frozen custard, then your favorite flavor of Italian ice, then topped with more frozen custard...the BEST!!) on the 8th of EVERY month (Jayden Day-birthday of owner's son) called Carmen's Italian Ice & Cafe (http://www.carmensrockville.com/news.htm). It's off of Exit 6A of 270, next to Hard Times Cafe if you want to go there for dinner first.

Another good 'local' is Dairy Godmother (formerly Del Ray Dreamery) in Del Ray (northern part of Alexandria, just outside of Old Town). They do homemade sorbet, frozen custard, and assorted baked treats. The owner (who you'll likely see cooking up something in the kitchen and/or serving you) is a Wisconsin expatriate. I'm told that if you want good frozen custard, Wisconsin is the place to go!

And if you go, be sure to grab some Sprecher's soda. The best!!!

One of the few things I miss about Northern VA is stopping in there after work....

In the old days, you would have still driven there even with where you live now

I would do it now, but that means I would have to deal with the DC rush hour!! I would either have to go around the beltway, or through the middle of DC. Doing that after work in the middle of prime time rush hour traffic just isn't any fun. And then I'd have to do it all over again to get back home... Ugh. Before, I had to deal with the traffic anyway, since it was more-or-less on the way home.

Still though, I have been there a few times since I moved. It's just now weekend trips down to NoVA!
