It's finally here! We know that everyone has been waiting for the next big MINI of Towson Event. And we've come up with a BIG one! The first One Hundred (100) people to register will have the chance to hit the asphalt as hard as ever with us at Ripken Stadium on Sunday July the 22nd. Keeping with our tradition of affordable events, this one will only cost $50 per person. Moreover, every penny of the $50 registration fee will be donated to charity!

This is huge, so be sure to get in early. We sent out this message to every client we could, and the event will fill up quickly. We will be providing food, drink, and helmets. Any MINI participating will be inspected at the Stadium on the morning of the event. A release waiver will be required to participate. Please understand to allow for maximum track time, only one registrant per MINI is allowed. Participants must be an existing MINI of Towson Sales Customer. Children under 12 not permitted. Please respond to brad.bornman@minitowson.comor call 410-296-6464 (MINI) to register.
Just registered....

I've just got their email this evening. It should be a fun event. It will fill up quick I believe.

What is autocross school?
Enlighten me, please. I emailed MOT to ask for more details and was told that the website would be updated some time today. Grr.

It's a school were they teach you to navigate a giant sea of cones and not hit them. There are usually slaloms and abrupt turns. The course is usually made in such a way that the run time is about 60 seconds. The focus is on handling, not speed.

They look something like this.

After school, you will have fun like this.

Having run at Ripkin the event is likely to be a bit twister than the video - and that is a good thing. Ripkin is a great lot for this kind of event. If MOT customers do not fill the slots, hopefully they'll open up the school to others.

As one that enjoys autocrossing I will ask folks to please refrane from hotrod in the area of the event. Save it for the school. These type of events are becoming becoming very difficult to schedule because the parking lots this nice are hard to access.

My hat is off to MINI of T for donating the money. Very class thing to do.

Thanks for the explanations and the videos!! :-) I'm tempted, but my reflexes are crap due to a long bout with Lyme disease; I have enough problems driving in a straight line some days. I nearly wrecked Perdita on a hairpin turn not so long ago... :-(

...it does look fun, though...

You really shouldn't have to worry about hitting anything but cones. It's also a go at your own rate thing. So if it looks like fun to you I would highly suggest you try.

yea, just like he said above. it's not a race. it's a school event. so you would go at your own comfortable pace.

Now I wish I had ordered my mini through them and not Tate. I wonder if they would have allowed non-mini's too.

I'm in - handed over my check to Brad today. He said they may cast a wider net on the invitation if these initial emails fail to fill the field.

I imagine the net will be cast wider given that they only sent out an email about the event a month before it was scheduled and the limit they set of 100 people.

I wish I could make it but I'm having surgery on the 19th (I even tried to postponed ) and there is no way I can be up and about on Sunday.

Brian & Craig Garfield are great (Craig stil races w/ his MINI ) probably Marshall Cone (a DCMM member and 2006 H Stock Champion) will be teaching as well and he is just GREAT !!! you guys are going to enjoy it ..

Ripeken Stadium has a good size lot so get ready for some fun slalom and a figure 8....
