Last minute non-official potential event: TUBING TOMORROW!
Last minute non-official potential event: TUBING TOMORROW!
Well, seeing the lovely weather today, I looked at myself in the rear view mirror and seeing my forehead, thought about tan... Then I thought about the awesome tan I got last time I went tubing with the Mini's (and XCali's other friends) and what an awesome time it was.
Well, I checked the weather tomorrow. AWESOME WEATHER! Rain tonight, a little overcast in the morning, but the sun will be out by 11, the UV index an 8 of 10, and a good time to get that tan going before anyone else.
Tubing season officially started today, so they'll be open tomorrow. For those who want to meet, lets plan on being there just after 10, so we can be on the water by 11, so we can be done in time to meet Donna & Mike @ the tortilla factory!
When: Tomorrow, Sunday the 13th @ 10:30am
Where: Butt's Tubes near Harper's Ferry
How Much: $20/25 depending on tube. You can also rent a 'cooler' tube to store your colas and cervesas in as you float downstream.
Website for more info: http://www.buttstubes.com/
Pics from last year's much more organized event: here.
And here's last year's thread of everyone saying what a good time they had, here.
If you don't already have skin cancer or something scheduled for tomorrow, BE THERE!

Additional spam:
Pregnant ladies can float too...
No it's not that far, because its WAAAAAYY worth it. Think MOTD except floating and WATER!
It'll be your last chance to see me.
It'll be my last chance to see you.
You're pale from winter, and need a tan anyhow.
The river isn't that deep, and you don't need to be an expert swimmer.
You can drink if ya wanna!
The water is cool and refreshing on a hot today like tomorrow!
You need to be more adventurous, and leave the 'comfort zone' of you Mini motoring!
Girls will be in bikinis.
Guys will be in bikinis.

And you saw the sunburn I got from MOTD? that was through 50 spf..and only for an hour or so...so imagine if I fall asleep in one..you all may have to tie me to another tube so I don't float away!
but hum...I imagine I wouldn't get much sleep..since I know you all would be splashing me!

Well we did don (unnecessarily) wet suits and I'm pleased to say that I'm still alive and kicking. We did have a good time - picked up a third Rudy-T from the forums and a very nice guide Alex. My boat was titled "Banana Boat" specifically to match my hammock. I was very happy.
I hope Wags had a good time too. He seemed to enjoy splashing water all over my banana boat.

Yeah, the outfitter claimed the water was so cold we'd need wetsuits and jackets. So we got them, and then it ended up being so warm that we didn't need them in the first place. The water temp was about 65 degrees, which is fine.
The same chick talked us out of tubing and into inflatable kyaks with a guide... Even though she was wrong about the water height, temperature, and pretty much everything out of her mouth... The duckies (thats what they're called) were as much fun if not more so than tubing would have been, and we all had a blast.
HAHA to all of you slackers that didn't make it. You missed out on a good time, and seeing us in tight wetsuits.
