wheel size and other options for MCS in D stock

Greetings all. First post and about to pick up my first mini, an 06 MCS w/ sports package, LSD, chrono and no sunroof. I've been autox'g for the past 11 years. Had a chance to drive an 09 MCS last weekend at our last autox for the year and the car was a blast. Looks like I'm selling the 96 328i.

From what I've read on here, the JCW is limited to 17" wheels. What is the MCS allowed to run in DS? Are 16" wheels legal to run on an S w/ sports package?

Would appreciate knowing what other options would make this handle better in autox in regard to shock/struts and brake pads. Seems like Koni's are the defacto shock, but I think their build quality has really suffered over the last few years. Many folks in my club complain of blowouts.

Any general autox tips would be appreciated including alignment settings.

Have a peek over at the SCCA Forums, particularly for Craig Wilcox "oasistan" who was runner up at Nationals this year. The same car took the DSL jacket.

This sort of search might be helpful too.

Cheers,

Charlie

Ps: did you mean this thread to be in the C Stock forum?

Thanks for the info. As for posting in the C Stock forum, this was a close as I could get. Didn't see a D Stock sub-forum yet. Guess that comes next year.

Thanks Charlie...

Sorry, new to this forum. I see I should have posted in G Stock and I see there is an effort to have that renamed to D stock. Thanks for the search tip.

Thanks Charlie...

Can anyone offer any suggestions for wheels for a 2010 factory JCW? I want some lighter wheels for autox events but want to stay in the stock class...

I wanted the OZ alleggerita hlt's but it looks like their offset will bump me out of stock.
What other options are out there with similar weight?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I will probably pick up a set of these if/when I go to a 17" package:

Feeling spendier? Maybe these:

I actually picked up a slightly used set of RPF1's a few weeks ago. I can't wait to mount them up and use them!

Thx for the suggestions.

questions for anyone willing to answer - what lug seat works with the RPF1? would 60degree conical work?

also do you torque down to the oem specs with these wheels? i dont want to bend them or something like that.

I did. All the guy could tell me was that they provide lugs IF you purchase the wheels from them. Pretty worthless.

Factory lug bolts worked fine, I ran rpf1's in smf last year and factory bolts worked great

that is good to know!

I may be getting a lug/stud conversion kit so I can swap wheels at events. this would make it a lot easier.
so I should ask: if I do not use factory lugs, what seat lug do I need? from what I can find on the interwebs conical seems to work just fine.

Thanks
