Ebc yellowstuff brake pads?

I'm planning to upgrade my brake pads to the yellowstuffs, Anyone tried the ebc yellowstuff on the countryman yet?

How does it compare to the stock brake pads? Any annoying noise? How bad is it when cold?

Thanks

Those pads are for racing and track use, Reds for heavy street use and Greens for commuting.

Reds are as far as you should go

these are a recommended pad by WAY

had greens for many years and tried reds on my 7-S and was very happy. I was a 'street' driver and the reds were fine with less dust than the greens . . .

The yellows are good, but for a street car the EBC reds are usually a better fit.

The Yellows are more aggressive and more dust than reds. But they do handle the heat well when you push them even at the track.

Use green, racing pads will greatly reduce your stopping power as they are designed to not fade. In order to avoid fade they are made of a harder material that has to heat up through "race" driving to be more effective. Conversely, softer pads have a lower operating temperature, work well in daily driving, but overheat in a "race" environment and lose their stopping power. Think of it the same way you think of winter and summer tires which have softer and harder compounds for different heat ranges. Some race stuff you put on you car looks cool and helps performance, brake pads are not one of these unless you like slamming into the car in front of you, or drive like a maniac at all times to heat them up properly.

Unless you are a wannabe street racer, stick with the Green.

Reds if you are going to track and some DD, greens for the DD. Yellows might be to aggressive unless its a track car.

I'm actually deciding between yellows and reds, but i havent seen much positive reviews for the redstuff. But I'm seeing many positive feedbacks for the yellows

Is the yellowstuff going to be problematic in slow speed traffic? As the pads aren't heated up enough? Would it make enough friction to be safe?

Thanks

Sorry but Reds are not track pads. I know that is what is says on paper, but I have a ton of real world experience using them and on the track the reds will just be a little better than stock. Yellows are the track pads. Reds are a great DD pad that can be pushed more than stock, with much lower dust.
The Greens we don't recommend on the R56-R60 MINIs as they are just too soft and don't have a great pedal feel. But this is just our experience over the years.
If you have more questions feel free to call us at the shop tomorrow. We keep them in stock and can help you out with whatever you want.

For the DD I feel the yellow are too aggressive. But its up to you, some people drive pretty aggressive on the streets.

I live in a hot climate and have a lot of short stop and go traffic, so the red pads work pretty well for me. Only three track days so far, and while the course has a lot of turns there is not much braking in 20 minute heats because the car is running wide open all the time. Will swap out the reds for yellows next track day but the yellows come back off since they just don't heat up enough to work on the street, imho.
