hey guys just wondering attatched strut brace and closed hood but it not closing properly any suggestions. It fixed polishing alluminium bar with easy clearance over battery box. but think it will warp my bonnet
Should i cut out or mould the inside heat lining of hood hezrd of people soaking it with water or something or just wait and hope it slowly moulds into place
Ps It is ebay special but no one else had problems wiyh items.

You might want to post this in the right section to get the answers you need. You posted this in Countryman threads.

Same situation on our R53. Sprayed distilled water(they say to prevent staining) on the area to soften it up, closed the bonnet and let it sit over night. After two applications of water and bonnet closings, problem solved.

Buzzsaw method works also have seen people put chalk on bar close hood and then use a razor knife and cut the insulation away that is marked.

if its that cheap *** 40 dollar ebay thing, prepare to be disappointed. wish i had saved my $40. i dont think that pos does doodely, except lighten your pocket.

and, yes, the water thing works. hose it real good, then just rest the hood down till it molds proper.

You gotta get the R60 one, not R53.

My m7 bar made the bonnet bulge up too, so I cut away the insulation on the bottom of the bonnet with a utility knife, and it fixed the problem. I used the chalk trick to find exactly where it touched the insulation.

Some guys go the extra mile, and actually remove the insulation and cut away the area needed from the top of the insulation, where it touches the bonnet. That leaves the bottom of the insulation completely normal looking, but now dented, leaving room for the bar. That takes more time and patience, but looks much more "stock" when the bonnet is open.

Another solution is to simply remove all insulation from the bonnet altogether. It's only there for sound deadening, isn't it?

Hi, I bought an identical strut Brace like the genuine part and I have the problem to close the hood.
please, can you tell me a solution?
the hood is raised higher in the gap I indicate in the photo because it hits the bar from below
see the pictures attached

Like my M7 Speed brace you have to wet the hood insulation and let the hood close for a couple days in the heat. The insulation them forms around it. If that does not work, you trim back some of the insulation.
