NM ECU tune + auto transmission -- experiences?

I'd like to hear about results of the NM ECU level 1 tune with an automatic transmission.

I just got off the phone with Jerry at NM, and I understand the auto transmission controls will sense and dump some of the boost, counteracting some of the benefits of the ECU tune.

But I'm not sure what to expect from the driver's seat, and whether a $500 tune on the auto transmission is wasted money.

Anyone?

The Stage 1 has no tangible issue with dumping boost, etc. such as the issues that cropped up with a Race / Stage 2.5 tune...

I have used the hottest track-only tune Jerry could put together (awesome, but had the purging issues), then a normal Stage 2, and finally a normal Stage 1.

Through my research and feedback, they are only offering the Stage 1 on Auto cars for the moment.

I can assure you that for $500, the Stage 1 is still the best money you can spend on your vehicle, bar none.

I never knew there was a connection between the turbo and transmission until two weeks ago. Ever since my R60S was new (Oct '12), every time I did an aggressive passing maneuver (stomping pedal to the floor), the car would downshift three gears and then get stuck in that gear until I manually upshifted with the paddles or shift lever. I assumed it was somewhat normal, but discovered when I went in for service that my BOV was sticking either open or closed and preventing the transmission from upshifting.

The dealer replaced the turbo and BOV and now shifting problem is resolved.

Not sure but from my driving testing it seems the car will not shift until the boost is within a psi range (or no higher then ? psi). I think this because the auto shift speed (time it takes to move from one gear to the next) changes depending on how I am driving (and backwards if you ask me).
If I stomp on the throttle and try to shift from 1-2 quickly it lags bad. My 2-3 and 3-4 is much quicker, smoother, and very fast compared to the 1-2 shift.

I started to playing around with shifting style and timing with the auto-stick to see if I could shift as fast with the auto as I could with a manual. Basically doing a, full throttle...no throttle...full throttle test. I was shifting at the no throttle position and the 1-2 shift was too slow to keep up. The upper gear shifts however seem to be very close to the time of a manual car's shifting between gears

I think the boost was not dumping fast enough for the auto to shift gears at the 1-2.

CHALLENGE: If there was away to fool the BOV signal or tweak the signal to get it to shift with more a wee more boost (just a fraction more) the shift could be faster.

Just some observations by a guy driving a CM All4 with an AUTO

So there is no longer an issue with NM and the late model ecu's? I've been trough all the "tune" threads.....I've read so much I almost feel more confused then when I started.
LJGeist yours is a late model.....so I take it NM has it figured out?

No, mine does NOT have a tune (yet). I was just mentioning the relationship between the Turbocharger/BOV and the transmission in general. Sorry for the confusion.

I emailed NM yesterday for an update on late model r60 ecu's and the auto tranny issue, as usual they were very quick to respond.....which is great customer service since I know they're getting hit with this question a lot.

Basically no new news....all he said was they "should have something ready by mid summer". I'm willing to wait.

I've contacted jerry of NM and here is his reply to me regarding NM tune for A/T..

"Ooo... not good. We are currently not offering tunes for automatic trans for the 2011-up cars. The trans' ECU holds back the boost to retain the required torque line, and this causes boost surges that you can easily hear, and sometimes feel. We have way too many complaints so we decided not to offer it at the moment.
Sorry :("

i badly want the nm tune and emailed Jerry a few times with picture of my ecu box (all good) i am just terrified if the dealer notices it and shoots down the warranty. i have the yellow sticker on my ecu box. the car is a 2012 auto model but he said my ecu is good to tune without problems.

before that photo he said this:

"Also, just to be sure, could you email me picture of the ECU cover? Just as it is, attached to the car. I need to confirm if you have the rectangular glossy black sticker with yellow writings on the ECU cover."

yeah he asked for a photo of my ecu box and i already had that picture taken when i installed the vip cai. i guess the new ecu had a different color sticker which lets him know if he can do a proper tune or not. my r60s is a 2012 model but made in 2011.

"its good! it is the yellow decal on the very right edge of the picture."

Thanks,
