I'm still little confuse about the JCW exhaust. It is Cat-back or just Muffler itself??

Do you have any information about the piping size??

It is a cat-back system (new intermediate pipe and rear muffler). The piping is 2.25" which is stock.

Yes I know, as I have the aero kit.

So, what does that mean in terms of installing the JCW exhaust? Do you have to retain the aero kit tips? I would have assumed they would just come off and the JCW tailpipes and tips would stick thru the hole in the rear valence... Yes? No?

The new JCW muffler slides into the existing tips on the JCW Aero Kit. The JCW exhaust system for vehicles with an Aero Kit does not come with new tips.

So, in theory, there will be more JCW mods for the ALL4 in the future. Based on what MINI has done in the past with JCW packages, would it make sense to get this exhaust now and then add on other JCW things in the future, or just wait and get a JCW package including the exhaust when available?

I know, this stuff isn't available so you would just be guessing, but what is your guess?

I honestly cannot give you a good answer to your question at this point in time. I have not heard anything as of today but when I do I can assure you that I will share what I know immediately. With the speculated new higher HP rating of the JCW R60, I do not know if a tuning kit will be available or what it will include if one is developed.

As for earlier models, I cannot offer any input on the matter being that we opened our doors as a MINI franchise in 2011.
Is it compatible with the JCW aerokit on the Countryman?

It is compatible with the JCW Aero Kit and you will retain your existing Aero Kit tips.

Please check out page 2 of this thread. User kittoh has posted some videos of his R60 with the JCW exhaust after being installed at our shop.

Had JCW exhaust installed today.

Looks great, almost no difference in the sound to my ear.

From the inside or outside of the vehicle?

Both.

I cant say I stand by while the car drives past me very often...

But, with the windows down and the sport button both on and off it sounds, maybe, 5% more throaty.

No droning or anything at a constant 60mph. Sounded, well, pretty much like it always sounded.

With the sport button on I did feel like I noticed more "pops" from the exhaust, but I'm not sure if that's related to the new exhaust or not.

I had similar thoughts at first as well as kittoh. The sound inside does not change much so that can be either good or bad depending on what you like. Our customer vehicle sounded very different from the outside and I he has told me that the sound has only gotten better in the following weeks. Let us know if you notice a change after putting a few miles on the system.

How long has it been installed? Can't say yours will but mine "broke in" after about 200 or 300 miles. Now sounds awesome. I assume you got the intermediate pipe and rear section? Do you have any intake mods? I'd like to see a video for comparison sake.

Try this....find a parking garage, windows down, sport mode on, roll throttle from idle and let it come back down a couple times it should make you smile. Then try this...in the same parking garage (or another one) sport mode on, first gear take off, run the RPM's up a bit and slow back down on the engine should produce another smile, bigger this time.

I guess the break in period is needed. There is a nice increase in sound after having put a few hundred miles on it.

There is a slight difference in normal driving mode, but in sport mode there is a substantial difference, and a lot more burble and "pops"

In normal mode at highway speeds there is a small bit of droning that kicks in around 70mh or so, but nothing irritating or unpleasant.

I'm very, very pleased with it.
