Tires

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where to buy new tires for my 2010 hardtop in the Omaha area. I am definitely getting rid of the run flats but not quite sure which tire would be the best. Would really appreciate any recommendations.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS. I have the DW (summer tires) on my wife's and they are magnificent. Only other option I'd put on her car are Pirelli's, but I would consider Coopers or Kuhmo's.

As you probably already know, determining which tires might be best for your own needs and priorities may not be a simple matter. I recommend that you nose around tirerack.com to first determine which category of tire best suits your particular needs, then look for the "best" tire (for your priorities) within that category. Tire Rack Alex (right here on NAM) can answer any questions you might still have.

For example, the Conti ExtremeContact DWS mentioned above is a high performance all-season tire that is excellent in the snow (at least for an A/S tire), while the Conti DW on proximo's wife's car is a good high performance summer tire that's not so good in extreme cold or in snow.

The latest version of the ultra high performance all season Michelin tire is the: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

I just replaced the summer run-flats (otherwise known as concrete doughnuts) and absolutely LOVE the new Michelin tires!!!!!!!!!!!

Smooth, quiet, all harshness is GONE, very responsive, and comfortably picked up 5-6 mph more on the cloverleaf ramp.

I set up the install and my wife took it in to the shop. She texted me after the install "Omg - you gonna luv these tires!!!". It's a large bonus with the wife's seal of approval.

FWIW, I also went up one size to the 215/45-17.

Also, they changed the compound for longer life yet kept the traction: 45,000 mile warranty. And they have a built-in rim protector/bead on the tire. Yesterday I drove 50 miles in the rain and had great traction. Sorry, I must sound like a tire salesman, but I love these tires that much!

And, if you buy the Michelin tires at Costco in Omaha, they put Nitrogen in them & they rotate them on schedule; all for the up front price of around $14 per tire for the life of the tire. Plus, they probably won't have your size in stock, but will special order them; mine arrived in 2 days.

Sounds like a nice call on the Michelins!! No issues with the size I take it...if I could only get anything for the OEM RF's I'd make the change on the way home from picking our car up at the dealer!!
