The details for the route have finally been ironed out.

To start we'll meet at the Lakeview Park in Council Bluffs at 10 AM on Saturday, April 2nd.

Our route along the Loess Hills Scenic Byways will take us north toward but not quite to Sioux City and head back south along different roads. Along the trip North we will stop for a short walk up to the Murray Hill Scenic Overlook and then have lunch in nearby Pisgah. We will also be traveling by Preparation Canyon State Park and the Loess Hills Wildlife Management Area. These roads will include gravel. On the route south we'll pass by the Oak Ridge Conservation Area and stop at the Willow Lake Recreation Area as well as the Harrison County Museum and Welcome Center.

For those inclined for dinner we'll then head to Tussey's Casual Grill for a nice meal at 5pm. It is located just north of Omaha near Highway 75 and I680.

To get to Lakeview Park, take Broadway (Hwy 6) east into Council bluffs. At 16th street take a left and head north to Big Lake Road. Follow that to the parking lot just before the railroad tracks.

Just a note for the new members. These drives are a great time and I would highly recommend getting out and getting some seat time. The weather looks like it will be great so I hope to see everybody there.

 

What time do you think you will reach the northern most point on the trek? I think we can join you on the southbound leg and then come back.

 

A rough guestimate would be about 2pm depending on the length of breaks and lunch.

That was a great day of Motoring! The weather was fine with lotsa sunshine. The roads up and down the Loess Hills have to be some of the best driving roads in our area.
