Cooper S Rear Bumper

Can anyone tell me if an MC rear valence is a direct swap with an MCS. I'm planning on swapping both front and rear bumpers, but would rather not have to get a custom exhaust.
Thanks,
Kyle

Standard or Aero?

Aero I know isn't; standard I cant rule out as I know the exhaust cut-out portions are switchable.

Have you checked realoem.com?

It will be a non-aero bumper. All I need to know about is if the plastic with the exhaust cut out is interchangeable. And you make that sound possible, which I like to hear.

What year is your Cooper? I can say for sure that I did it on my 2003 Cooper, both front and back, without issue.

The trim pieces are interchangeable, I am running cooper arches on my 'S' with the 'S' rear valance and MC rear mud flaps on top of the MC arches.

Awsome. Thanks for all the great help. Looks like all I need now is a rear bumper and away I go.

Yep, I took the black plastic trim with the exhaust cut off of my Indi Blue MC bumper, and replaced it with an Indi Blue MCS bumper. I accidentally broke the MCS trim portion while removing it, so I was a lot more careful when I removed the MC trim and reinstalled it on the MCS bumper.

This was also a 2003 model.

So, you only replaced the long black plastic trim and left the MCS side bumper trims in place?? or you also replaced the MCS side bumper trims with the MC side bumper trims???, can you please send me detailed pics or info? I want to do the same but i have many questions about it.

On my 2003, I only did the lower portion trim on the back for the exhaust cut out. The sides trims were left the same.

Okay, so just to be clear, you can swap the lower black plastic trim piece on the MCS rear bumper with one from an MC? I'm asking because I have a MCS but the custom exhaust exits in the same location as a MC.

(I'm crossing my fingers)

BTW, a parts guy from Classic Mini held both the MCS and MC lower bumper black plastic pieces in his hands and told me over the phone that there was no way they would be interchangeable.

That's correct. The portion with the exhaust cut out will swap out. Now I'm assuming 2002 to 2004 bumpers. The shape changed on 2005 and 2006, so I don't know if they are still interchangeable.

Hmmm......ours is a new 2006....I guess I could give it a try. Worst case I could send the part back. Here's a photo of our car and the obvious "problem".

You just need to buy the black trim of a 2004 MC, just be sure that it is from a 2004 bumper made before June, the bumper changed on June 2004 to the one that the 2005 MC's have and it won't fit.
