what's this
what's this
this thing actually looks like it could work. not exactly a turbo, but it's gotta give you something. right????

Hmmm, I usually laugh at stuff like this but I see the point here. Good FAQs and testimonials.
I guess it would all depend on how our cars would interpret the increase in air pressure. If it would dump in more fuel, would it completely combust? Would it just bottleneck in the head? Aren't all the cylinders burning as much fuel as possible on WOT anyway?
I don't even think that thing would fit under my already cramped bonnet.

i think it would fit perfectly in between my k&n filter and the cod air intake pipe

This is actually very interesting.
I think that if you take off the filter you have, you'd then have the space needed for the installation. I believe the new "e-Ram" comes with its own filter, right? So you could use the air-intake pipe with the new "e-Ram" filter. (?)
And I think my air-intake has more room than the one pictured above:

I'd be a good candidate to try this!! lol. I'd rather wait 'til somebody does it first, then bite the bullet. But 300 bucks for about 15hp is not a bad idea at all!
Very interested and I'll keep an eye on this thread, I'll tell you that.
Take care,
Leo.

it will definitely fit. i don't think that is even a question . i think the real question is will it make a noticeable improvement when the throttle is all the way open ,or will it f@#k the computer up up because of the added airflow
Stop it. That thing will rob hp by blocking the intake charge air flow which is much greater than the miniscule volume that crap could produce. So please don't worry about how it will fit. That would be worse than inserting a cigarette lighter powered tire inflater in your air filter (hey mines 40 psi instead of 1.7 psi like theirs) That could bring me close to 500hp except, like their product, it doesn't work. Sorry

I worked the #'s and this thing should work.
to all the skeptics out there, a 1 PSI increase in ambient air pressure would be about a 6% increase in total power output. And no, the car won't puke on this either, as it figures out what to do based on the pressure and temp of the air charge in the intake manifold. Think of it as having a Mini in Denver, then driving it at sea-level.
Axial fan technology is no joke. Just because a bunch of people say it's can't work because it's a web add should really start thinking more about the theory of operation of our cars.
There's a previous thread about this floating around somewhere, and it evolved pretty much like this one is.
Look at this thing. Wonder if it works?
Hah, I saw something similar on eBay for $29.95. Effin joke to make someone (not you) rich.
Naw, sounds like a good idea.
NFW! Can't work, and would choke the heck out of the intake path.
But the numbers work out!
I don't care about the numbers, this CAN"T work.
Long and short, even if you say that it'll rob 1-2 HP to turn it, the chemical energy released by buring more fuel will create more than the 1-2 HP to run it. This is EXACTLY the same priciple used on the S with the Roots SC, and in a way, is a baby twincharge kit.
Frankly, I have no idea why this gets such universal derision whenever it's brought up. It has the potentail for much more bang for the buck than most mods contemplated by the Mini crowd.

it will definitely work when the throttle is full open. better than what your engine is pulling right now. but if your just cruisin,it will be a bit more restrictive, because the thing only turns on when the throttle's fully open. i 'll be getting one soon so i will let you know my results. this isn't some pice of internet crap though. if i'm wrong then i'm wrong. it comes with a dyno test gaurantee though so how could you go wrong.
Just look at the air it moves.
It's over a 1000 cfm fan! It has to heat the air less than about 20 degrees C to actually provide densification. On the S there's tons of room to try one....
I'm very curious....

so, for this fan create power, it has to provide an increase in molecular density, and that is proportional to the absolute pressure divided by the absolute temp.... If it gives you 1 psi of pressure rise in front of the TB, then as long as the temp rise is less than ~18 C, the molecular density increases, and you get more power.

One of you seasoned race veterans please tell me this is how most racing in this class goes down...
I've watched a bunch of onasleds videos, among others (his are easily accessable! thanks & good luck!

Now that I see more info. on this product Its feasible that it could work. But you still have the issue of restrictor plate or lag when not powered up, which is most of the time. Thats on your side as far as 2600rpm motors bearing life is concerned. I'm also not to wild about the 60 AMP drain on the battery & alternator. Ouch. Also when it eats itself, where do you think all those little peices end up? Just kidding!
