I'm used to pics showing this version of the Milltek catback tip (pic from WMS) - large, round (i.e., not oval), angled, and resonated.



Today I ran across this one (pic from OutMotoring) - still large and round, but straight cut, and what I can see of the inside looks quite different.



Have you seen the second version in person yet? Which one does yours look like?

 

I've got the second version on my Cooper...I like it, very stock looking and just slightly deeper than stock.

 

Really? That's good to hear since I think I like that second version better. But I emailed Outmotoring to ask about the differences and their response was that they had the wrong pic and/or description - "thanks, we'll fix it right away." Where did you get yours? I assume it's one of the systems you tested recently - hmmm, and you kept the Milltek - hmmm, I get the feeling you preferred the Milltek to the others for your personal MINI.....eh?

 

I got it from Webb Motorsports. The Milltek is what we have on the car now, I liked it about as much as the MyMINI piece, but we tested the Milltek last so...well...it was on the car when I left the dyno...so that's the one I've kept on. It's really a toss-up between the two. I like the sound of the Milltek better, but I liked the weight of the MyMINI. 6 to one...

Oh, but I don't think ours has that engraving on the tip.

I have the version in the second photo. I bought it in December '05 from stratmosphere.com. I was confused when I saw the tip, but now I really like it.

 

Sorry for the confusion on this. The image on our site IS the correct image but the description says "slash tips", which has been fixed...thanks for pointing that out...

 

Cool - now for the flip side - the first pic is from Randy Webb's site - Per said his came from WMS but it looks like the second pic. Ain't this fun?

 

Milltek has a number of tip options that can be custom ordered from the UK. For the S system they have at least 2-3 from what I remember. WMS image may have either been a custom set up for them or the image may be 2-3 years old and Milltek had not resolved which tip they would be shipping long term....that's my quess.

 

WMS site also tells you that the Moss and Viper Pipercross intakes will fit an '05 MC, which they will not. I wouldn't count on their MC information.

 

Anyone know the outside diameter of that second tip?

 

That first pic is of my car.....and that milltek was the protype. I still have it and love it. Originally put on just about 2 years ago.
