Yes K&N makes the 57i intake for th '05-'06 Cooper. Actually, it fits all year Coopers.

I paid $140 for mine (57i) but the price is now up to $208.

Their site appears to be messed up at this time. If you do a vehicle search for a 2005 Cooper 1.6L, it comes back with the 57i, the Old Typhoon, and the Typhoon for the MCS.

The K&N 57i is an intake that fits 05s, but it's not a "cold air" intake, if that's what you're looking for. In fact, there aren't many fully enclosed cold air intakes around for Coopers regardless of production year....I can think of only two, the Pipercross Viper and the MiniMania, and I have no idea whether either are advertised to fit 05s. There are quite a few replacement intake systems that are "cold air"-ish because they partially restrict the intake of hot underhood air and/or direct air cold toward the filter element from the factory intake snorkle. I'm personally only aware of one of the latter that says it will fit 02-06 and that's the new version of the intake MyMini sells - looks like this.

Steve,

Is the 57i a true CAI? Doesn't seem like it from the pics I see of it. Do you happen to have pics of it installed on your car?

The most restrictive part of the system appears to be the factory inlet snorkel. Small diameter, 90 degree bend and the opening is blocked by the grille center support.
Anyone know of a means to open this up a little? Maybe get a little "ram effect" happening?

Here's the link to the 57i

Doesn't appear to be CAI, since there is no box to isolate the hot engine compartment air.

I 've a Pipercross in my MINI One (MTH; 90 -> 135 hp) and I'm very glad with it!
Also my brother who has a MINI One too but without MTH tuning.
The respons at the accelerator (dutch: gaspedaal) is better and quicker!

A engineer of the dealer said to me when he droves my MINI that the Pipercross sounds better than the K&N.

I made the same mistake in this thread. They are looking for a CAI for the '05 MINI, not just an intake like my 57i or Stoopid Girls.

It's a nice intake, however, it will not fit on an '05-'06 MINI Cooper, nor is it a CAI.
