MC / MCC exhaust thread... + & - s

OK, let's all talk about the regular Cooper. There are a bunch of cat-back exhausts out there- but facts and figures always get mixed up with the "S" versions.

Here are some of the big ones-

The Remus is out there on "crazy" sale on ebay- ($200), nice sound, I hear...

The Borla- Super quality, great warranty, medium-high price..., too loud?...

The Helix- too loud? best power though...

The RSpeed- Haven't heard too much with this one...

The Milltek- No drone! looks nice, too...

The Magnaflow- Sound supreme- good price...

Then there are the generic ones, like on MINI Mania for $379-, and the rumored, mysterious ones, like the Neuspeed that was supposed to come out.

Those are about it... I know there is info on all this around the forum, but it's very scattered and you never get to compare ALL the apples at once with out someone throwing a kiwi in there...

Experience? Sound clips? Fittiment issues- 03 vs 05? Problems? Fries with that?

GRM did a decent writeup with dyno testing of various exhausts on their project MC:

Exhaust thread

Would also appreciate any info on whether the Miltek or Remus (ones I'm most interested in) will bolt right up to an '05 (I've got an '06 on order & presume no changes) Mini, on which I'm told the hangers are different than earlier cars. Anybody dyno the Miltek on a Cooper?

Got a local friend that just ordered a Borla for her Cooper. I'm gonna install it for her along with a bunch of other goodies this weekend. Do you or anyone know what kind of power increases are being claimed on Cooper Exh. systems?
She wants to be the first Cooper owner in the club that pop's the bonnet at meets to show off her stuff.

Cool, thnx for the replies...

I added the K&N typhoon intake and it's great. Nice sound and it feels like a tad more power in the higher range, but again it could be the sound.

I would like to add an exhaust, but I DO NOT want to be driving a modified lawnmover sounding vehicle. Some of the crap I see and hear on some cars arond Denver makes me sick. So I would like some sound, to give it the english sports car gurgle, but after hearing the intake sound I don't know if I want a Borla. It may be too much. maybe something quieter, but still with good flow.

Suggestions?

Also, does anyone have the final answer on the '05 fittiment question?

I just called her to let her know that the exhaust I recommended might be pretty loud. She says that's what she is going for.

She put her intake on herself and thought something was wrong because of the sound when she drove off. She likes it though and says she's almost used to it already.

Good morning all, I installed the Borla in a friend's car over the weekend.
It pretty much sounded like a Borla on a MCS at start up, very nice sound I must say. The shocking part of the whole system to her was not the sound, but the size of the exh. tip on that thing, it looks like it's about 4 inches wide. Anyhow, she agreed it looked better once it was on the car.
Now she's ready to start showing off her stuff.

She ended up installing the Cobalt CAI herself, she was too anxious to get her parts on, kudos to her for doing that.

Nice!

What year is her MC? Probably a '03 or earlier? Octane Guy's is a '03 with the Remus. What will fit an '05?!?!? Anything out there?
