Question is - why would you want to put such a large wheel on the car? While it will probably fit (MINIs had an 18" wheel options), it will noticeably slow the acceleration of the car, the ride will degrade a lot and there will be little benefit to handling with the stock suspension.

Its a 42mm offset rim ... I tried looking for the range that was workable without rubbing or if I need spacers could find that chart

We often get this question and there is NO perfect formula and why you won't find a chart. Every brand of wheel has different offset, and we've also found different manufactures measure it differently.
Then to make it worse every tire is different width depending on manufacture also. A 205 from one company may be the same width as a 215 from a different brand and vice versa.
Then suspension brands also will effect this as some shocks are fatter than others and require more space.

The only way to know for sure is to install and measure. Then if you need you can go with some 5mm or 15mm spacers, we don't like to go any wider than that.

I have run stock wheels with a 48mm ET to after market wheels with a 38mm ET with 215-45x17s tires from Bridgestones, Dunlop and Yokohoma without rubbing. With the 42mm ET being somewhat in the middle of what I have run, I would guess that you can use them. I just wouldn't go too large on the tire and maybe would stay with the stock tire size for the 18" wheels (not sure what that is though - check Tire Rack).

You wouldn't want spacers with ET42 as they would increase chances of rubbing.

Tire size would be 205/40-18 (stock fitment) or 215/35-18 (more wheel gap). Not sure if 215/40-18 will rub under load.
