I hope someone can help me here. I just replaced my CVT transmission in my 2003 CooperI believe the proper speed designated to begin the coast process to a complete stop, is 80klm-37mph.
You should clear the trans adaptations with the BMW computer before you drive it, I actually know someone that ruined a trans by not doing that. After that you can do the clutch adaptations, then drive it to 50mph and let it coast down to almost a stop without using the brakes till the last second.
Thanks again
Maybe I should ellaborate more. I deleted all adaptations and error codes with DIS. I also reset the computer via the intrument cluster. The car has a brand new battery and throttle body. I'm not receiving any error codes now.

Did you ever get this resovled? I've got a 2004 MINI Cooper (Base) with the CVT and I plan on changing the CVT fluid/filter (just over 51,000 miles now) in the next few weeks and am researching through the forums for insight. I've got one of the Bently MINI Cooper service manuals that details the procedure but it seems to have a few gaps...or I may be missing something.
I don't have a lift to put it on so I planned on putting it on jack stands...I've got 4 jack stands but haven't figured out the best way to put it on the jack stands...I can easily get it up on two (front or back) but then am scratching my head about how to get it on the others. Anyway...appreciate any advice.

Yeah I figured out I needed a new speed sensor on the transmission. It adapted on the second try after that. It's been running great since. As for jacking the car up, all you need to do is the front to work on the tranny. Just a heads up though, the transmission pan is a pain to get off when it's in the car. I had the front clip removed and still needed to remove the engine mount and jack the engine up to squeeze the pan off.
Awesome! I figured getting the pan off would be a bit of a bear. I've got the Bentley service manual and it shows how to do the process..including taking the front bumper guard off and loosening the engine mounts to raise the engine about 1/4".
