Aftermarket Exhaust that quite
Aftermarket Exhaust that quite
Hi all,
I own a 2005 mini cooper and realized last night that my exhaust was not only rusting out...but is now about to fall off. I'm not covered under extended warranty and thus am looking to do a replacement myself.
I love to sound of my mini with the stock muffler, and don't enjoy hearing these overly loud aftermarket exhaust systems that other cars have. I also don't mind care about increasing my hp.
I'm a daily driver with a kid on the way, so I need the inside sound to be just as quite as the stock exhaust.
Any suggestions for me? Also, don't want to be spending way to much.
Thanks,
Blsmit

After some time searching the internet I am unable to locate a Miltek exhaust that is equipped for the non-s mini cooper. A.K.A these appear to be staight down the middle. (mine goes to the passenger side.) I don't want to have to get a new bumper, remove my spare and some stuff under the car just to put a exhaust system in.
If there is a link to the Miltek for non-s, I will consider this.
More suggestions are always welcome!
Thanks.

I got mine from Stratmosphere (they're an official distributor, and can probably order one, but it's no longer listed on their site).
The R50 Milltek cat back exhaust seems to have disappeared from the Outmotoring and Detroit Tuned sites as well.
Probably not worth the effort to track down and special order, however.
The R50 one was about $650 and does follow the same path to the right side like the oem one,
no modification to the bumper or spare tire was needed.
Only online source I could find was Lohen in UK, but only has a picture of the tip - only 315 GBP but probably a ton on shipping.

cristo.
Thanks for the information I will email Stratmosphere now and see the total with shipping to my address. Did this just bolt right up with little to no modification?
Just got off the phone with Stratmosphere...they don't have any more and would have to special order them from the UK. $$$. totaling up to 800+ with a 5 week wait.
I'm still open for suggestions.
Thanks,
Blsmit

I also have a Borla.. It is a bit louder/deeper tone than stock below 3500 rpm, and then it gets more louder after that. Waylen from Way Motor Works hooked me up.
One other suggestion is to check with your dealer or local club members to see if they have any stock "takeoffs" laying around.. You may be able to get a used one from somebody who upgraded early to an aftermarket exhaust.
