CAI's for Mini Coopers (MC) and Mini Cooper S (MCS) have different purposes. The CAI for the MC will frequently allow more air into the system, but it's not a true cold air system. The CAI for the MCS puts cooler air into the supercharger and does other strange things when combined with other optional parts the supercharger set uses. For more info you might check the 2nd Generation MCS section of the forum. They can explain better than I can, as I have a MC, no "S".

No that intake won't work on an 07+ Hardtop Cooper. It is only for the R50 generation MINI.

But there is good news. I did some dyno testing on a Just a Cooper intake for the R56 MINI and found some good low end torque. It should be available soon. I'll be sure to let you know.

Also guys, I know that Megan exhaust is a little cheaper at those NON MINI vendors, but please support your MINI performance vendors here. Your purchases help us maintain our business to be here when you need us.

Well my exhaust arrived today and I got it installed. Looks great, sounds great. Couldnt be happier.

Theres also a small but noticeable performance gain. My girlfriend could even tell from the passengers seat that it felt a tiny bit livelier. You cant go win Le Mans with it, but it gets the job done.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet... what a difference in the sound, huh ?

Congrats. I think the Megan cat-backs are the best mods we have on our JustaCoopers.

Couldnt agree more.

The new sound is awesome. I was prepared to spend double what I paid to get a sound like this. Its nice and aggressive without being obnoxious or ricey.

I loved my Megan too, but took it off when I traded my MC in for an MCS. If anyone is looking for a hardly used Megan in excellent condition, check mine out at the NAM Marketplace!

I dunno how many people still care but I had my cam in the car today so I shot a short clip for the people who wanted to hear the exhaust from inside the car. The windows were up for this run, it was wet out so I didnt get a clip w/ the windows down, sorry. Just imagine the same thing but louder :D

Recently drove into DC to go to a baseball game. Went through a tunnel. My Dad, bro-in-law, and cousin were in my dad's Altima ahead of me in my CR Cooper.

Got to our destination and my Dad tells me when we were going through the tunnel, he thought his car was making a loud noise and then after a few seconds he realized it was my exhaust.

And I was at last 100 feet behind him.

Hey Johnny, Thanks for the good sound clip, do you have the rear seats up, down or out of the MINI?

I agree I love the pops and burbles that it makes if you hold the throttle around 2800-3000 rpm in first or second gear

I've been seriously considering the megan racing exhaust along with the megan racing headers as well as the DDM CAI. Will there be a noticeable performance increase? Would I need to retune the ECU? I don't need a catalyst as they did away with the emissions testing here in KY. However, it says the headers will cause a check engine light to come on....anyway to fix that? Steve from minspeed.net said not to waste my money on headers - no gain in power from them. Is that true?

By the way, I've gotten mixed responses on which intake is best: DDM or K&N? Cost is not an issue. Whichever gives most HP/MPG gain. Sound comes second to performance but I don't want a ricey sound either...

I agree with Steve about the header. The best way to get proven power out of a header is with an ECU tune and I don't think it's worth the investment.

The DDM or K&N are about the same, I'd flip a coin on that one. The Alta Panel works well too.

You don't need a ECU Tune for these mods to work well.

The biggest difference will be better response of the motor and you may also feel more power in the seat, but on a dyno I'd bet you'd only see 10-15 more WHP with the catback and hi flow intake.

The Megan non-S catback is still back ordered at this time.

Let me know how you like it and if you notice a good amount of increased throttle response. So far, I'm leaning towards the ALTA panel drop in. Maybe the afe intake but not sure on that one.
I figured headers would add a noticeable boost and considering they are only $170 I don't see why not. I'll have to give it some more thought I guess. I deffinately want to upgrade my ignition though for more throttle response and mid-range power. Screamin' Demon coil pack, Nology ignition wires, kingsborne pluge wires, and NGK spark plugs.

Meh, I've reconsidered a few things. Probably be more wise to save my money to properly maintain the Mini since I'm not racing or anything I'll keep my upgrades to street/daily driver performance. So no ECU remap/headers, etc.

Well I got my DDM CAI installed by Dave at DDMWORKS in his new shop. He did it while him and his partner were indstalling a super charger in a Soltice. Interestingly it took his car from 170HP to 260HP a 5k upgrade for 90HP. But anyway I did notice the difference and it is nice. Now to see what it will do for my mileage?

All in all probably a good thing. I have the ITG filter which is similar to the Alta Panel Filter and I have been pleasantly surprised with it. Focus on suspension and maybe even a short throw shifter. Those will add a lot of fun to the cooper, as well as a panel filter !

On a flat interstate in 5th gear with cruise set at 65mph I can get 32-34 all day. I do run the K&N Typhoon and 215/55 16's tires. Plus how many cars are this much fun and get 30 plus day after day?

PS, Thanks for all the love.
Weird. I was getting 38 MPG at 70 MPH interstate. No mods though other than the alta drop in panel filter.
