Hello Cooper Owners,

I just checked the Promini site and found the have an air intake for the Cooper. The item no. is 155519 and selling for for $198.95. Doe anyone have this intake or have any comments about performance after installing it? Right now, I have a Pipercross foam filter intalke in my Cooper and the colld air issue has always concerned me. The Promini intake looks good but will it be any better?

You're not happy with the Pipercross intake?

I don't know any CVT owners that have tried the Promini. They don't even have a picture of the Cooper intake on their website. Let us know what you find out.

I've had a few on order for months now, they say that they WILL ship monday the 28th. From the very small image on the website, it looks pretty cool, can't wait to see it!!

I will reshoot one and put it on the webiste when they arrive.

Looks like it hooks up directly to the resonator box (that evil thing I have been trying to remove) and into the throttle body.

Then I should think it won't be a very effective intake replacement. The evil resonator box
must be removed. Bad, bad resonator box!

I think a more effective CAI would be to borrow a cue from the MCS K&N Typhoon set-up. I would like to see a nice tube coming off of the air scoop and angled in such a way to the filter. No resonator box involved, period. That cloth tube that connects the air scoop to the resonator box should be replaced by something like the MCS uses for the Typhoon.

That is what the Mini Mania intake I bought does: The stock intake snorkel and the dreaded resonator box is removed. The stock filter box is retained. A new snorkel fits between the center of the bonnet and the filter box. It uses a foam filter in place of the stock element.

Can only give you my experience w/the Promini for the Cooper S. Made a significant difference in performance---very noticable. Straightforward installation. I temporarily slipped a sheet of aluminum behind the stock filter box bottom to protect the lines behind the box and then drilled three holes in the back of the box (from the inside) with a drill and about a 1 3/4" hole saw "bit". The aluminum stopped the saw from damaging the lines. Results are even more air to the filter. Car goes like a scalded dog now and the supercharger whine is even more audible and evil-sounding. Arrrrrrr...rrrrrrrrrr.rrrrrrrrr (beating chest and howling skyward).

Welcome to MCO rneville

Thanks for your review of the Promini intake for the S. For us, in Cooperland, the intake situation is a little different. It seems that no one has gotten it "quite right" yet.

I was quite pleased with the intake I bought. There may be better setups out there. I looked yesterday on their site and Mini Mania seems to no longer be offering the intake I bought.
