What color is the fluid in it? If it's coolant it should be a deep blue. And that 's what it sounds like to be. Coolant that is.

Just did a quick photo reference.

If it is the tank in the red circle then it is coolant just to clear that up. I can't remember wat the black one is though.

The coolant level will drop in the tank if the outside temp. drops overnight, then return to normal after the engine has warmed up. Best to check the level when the engine is warm. If do need to top it up, get the same coolant, don't mix brands, best to get a gallon of it from a dealer, and mix with water as per the directions. It will likely last you many years.

Be careful with the cap. While filling the coolant a week or so ago, the cap dropped down and was a royal pain to extract. I was running late, it was really cold, and the neighbors heard obscenities. Finally I used chopsticks to grab the rim and that worked pretty good.

Mine doesn't have that sticker, and my cap has a hinge on it. Also, did they the type of coolant recently, because I use blue stuff from BMW?

I wouldn't fill that thing up unless you have seen some issues with your cooling while driving and idling. It;s just the overflow tank and the radiator should have more than enough capacity.
