Port of Brunswick start-up problems?

Arrrg! Why didn't they send me through Charleston? So I ordered my Clubbie on 4/12 and was expecting my car tomorrow. It got off the boat on 5/14. I spoke with a MA last Thursday and he said I should expect it on 5/20. So I call today, and its still stuck at the Brunswick GA distribution center as they are running about a week behind. After watching it every day on its journey across the Atlantic...

Next week my MA said. Dang it, I had made Memorial Day weekend plans (roadtrip!) and scheduled to take time off work. This is so frustrating! So close and yet so far... Anyone else stuck at Brusnwick?

NOT what I wanted to hear.
Mine hits Brunswick on 6-6-08
Hope they iron out the kinks.

ask the dealership in no uncertain terms before you sign anything if the vehicle was damaged in transit... also search the First Gear forums

Mine is due in Brunswick on 5/21 and my MA was even suggesting that it might get here by this weekend. I guess I'll have to scale back my optimism for a week or so - grrrr!

I'm still at the Bruswick Distribution Center. Been there since the 13th. The paperwork was printed on the 14th. Nothing wrong (so my MA says). My dealership has about 6 customer order cars stuck there. From what I hear, its a disaster. If anyone else has gotten out from there, please let me know.

Ruined my road trip plans for Memorial Day weekend.

Was a Charleston stop scheduled for the boat?
I didn't know there was a Brunswick Distribution Center.

My Clubman S came on a shipping line, K-Line, that didn't have any WWW tracking like W&W(guessing it's yours).

My car was one of the first to go through Brunswick. My MA kept telling me Charleston, and I was looking at the shipping info online for the boat, and it said Brunswick. I don't know to what extent they are using either or both centers. My dealer had at least one car from Brunswick so I know something is getting through. A bunch aren't though.

Wilbur arrived in Brunswick on Wednesday night. I spoke to my MA and he also confirmed that Brunswick is a new VDC for them. He said a bunch of cars are coming from them to their dealership (which has a BMW dealership attached) let's hope the bottleneck is unclogged now.

Quick update. Still no schedule. My dealer finally got in touch with the distribution center. Something about "lost paperwork", "it got boxed in", and "never happened before". All really unforgivable excuses, but especially on a customer order. The hardest part is I really don't feel like my dealer is doing everything they can for me. I don't know what I want, but a date on when I will get my car isn't unreasonable. It seems like the folks at the distribution center will "get to it when they get to it". I was keeping my fingers crossed for Saturday. I seriously doubt that at this point.

I know this problem is really not the dealerships fault, but this is really killing the whole "Mini experience". I was thrilled to watch the car get built, track it every 6 hours on the journey across the Atlantic on the Patriot, and I did a happy dance when it arrived on US shores. I even went to far as to make "road trip" plans for the Memorial Day weekend (I thought 10 days would have been plenty of time for delivery).

At least my Sales Manager told me in no uncertain terms that there was no damage to the vehicle in transit. However, it doesn't make me feel better when my dealership is getting "spec" cars from Brunswick, but mine is still "lost in the system". Is there anyone at MiniUSA to complain to?

Jon, I think you should call/email MINI/BMW regarding this and maybe have the dealer to throw in some freebies to your deal as well. Hope you get your car soon.

Jon,

That so sucks... I hope you get your car soon. I mean crap we could drive up there in less than three hours and find your car.

I would think that your MA can find your car and get it down here.

this whole thing sucks...

Well, my MA has been trying - I have to give him props for that. I got a call later tonight and they are moving the car towards getting it on a carrier. There is still an outside chance of delivery on Saturday, but I am honestly expecting Monday. Especially since they are installing sport stripes, getting it tinted, and putting on a set of wheels for me. The dealer has been trying to make it right, but there have been problems with my order from the beginning. My original MA no longer works there and screwed up my order, but my new MA is much more responsive. He just had no power to get my car out of Brunswick. Not his fault.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I also know I've been obsessing for the last 7 weeks. This forum will help you do that. In the grander scheme, a 2 week delay shouldn't be that big of a deal. Being able to dream up a car and drive it 7 weeks later after it was built 1/2 a world away is kind of amazing (5 weeks could have been even more amazing!). I think I'm actually calming down becuase I now have something to look forward to. As soon as I see it and know that its mine, I know I'm going to forget all the crap. I'll post pics on the other thread once I get it.

Thanks everyone for the support and letting me vent!

Wow Jon your attitude is amazing. That's great. And you're right, in the big scheme of things waiting a few days more isn't a big deal, but when you are waiting that's hard to accept. I know when my car was sitting there and all I heard was that it was "waiting for a carrier" all I could do was wonder why wasn't it moving. These cars do that to us!
