New Mini Owner

Well i guess this is sort of an introduction as well soo....
My name is Ryan, 19 years old and i just bought a mini. I dont have it yet cuz its being imported from japan, but i do have pics for you all to look at. For the longest time i thought these were such cool lil cars and came accross a good deal so i got it. Car is said to have 20,000km on it and the body is mint. but as for the KM i dont really care cuz soon i plan on doing an engine swap for something like a Vtec engine....not 100% sure yet but i have a lot of ideas....kinda need to get my hnads on the car to look at it first tho before i get to carried away.

Question i do have for you all is if you have any good website to order parts from, Rims is a big deal...i dont mind the ones it has but i want so get as wide possible thatll fit. Buti cant find anything but the average mini ones everyone has. Any help on car parts/ Mods/ or just anything would be greatly appreciated.

Look forward to chatting with you all

The pics i promised

Think hard before swapping out to a non-Mini engine. Some of what I love most of my Mini is that it does all it does with that 1275 I have under the bonnet.

A 1275 will cost you much less than a v-tec conversion.

Cute Mini, I assume all the extras in the bonnet is an AC unit right?

good call Lance, compressor is under alternator...

Hope it is titled at least 25 years old, otherwise it won't get past customs. It has Mk1 taillights, but a Mk3+ body shell, and other later model bits. Hope your not in Caleeforneea.....

Did you get this car and the skyline through the same guy? Was it John H. in Vancouver? How does the AC work? If you don't mind, how much was the overall cost including importing for Japan to Vancouver?

looks very cool

What ship?

The Cougar Ace had been carrying nearly 5,000 cars from Japan to Canada when it began taking on water Sunday night.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060725/...s/listing_ship

In this photo released by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Singapore flagged vessel Cougar Ace is shown disabled and listing 90 degrees to its port side about 230 miles south of the Aleutian Islands

What about California?

Hope it is titled at least 25 years old, otherwise it won't get past customs. It has Mk1 taillights, but a Mk3+ body shell, and other later model bits. Hope your not in Caleeforneea.....

What's the problem with California? If the car is at least 25 years old, are there other restrictions in California?

Yes, CA has more rigid rules and your car must meet their age std (70?) not the fed regulation. Issues with the CA CARB board....better check it out with the state if you live there or contact Mini owners in LA (MOALA) for advice. If it is too new you can't register it in the state.
