Bonnet Stripes

My classic is about to go in for a paint job, and I want to add bonnet stripes, but don't know the dimensions. Since mine is the only classic for 200 miles I need help. Could someone measure the width, and perhaps the distance from the edge of the bonnet to edge of the stripe? Maybe post a Pic?

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Nik

I think I recalll CooperFlags telling me they had the dimensions and that they are able to make em like whatever I wanted.

Unlike the new ones there is that curve for the curve on the bonnet.

What stripes did you want, as I recall my checkered ones only set me back $20. I can see if djminis has em in stock and get them shipped quickly.

It's the curve in them that makes them hard, I guess with tracing paper you could make a template of them, they are 3.5" wide so if you lay out some paper on the bonet and make a line like .25" in from the edge of the bonet, or a little closer depending on where you want them, then make a line following the seam on the side, just measure out 3.5" on the paper while still on the bonett and you ought to have a good template. most vynil guys worth their salt will be able to work with that, hell they may be able to make the pattern better than I mentioned how to.

The stripes on my classic are a mickey hair under 3.5 inches across, almost exactly 88mm.

Are they doing vinyl or painting the stripes?

I think it will look great, and the stripes will be under the clear coat.

not to mention no need to find a wax that does not bind to your vynil, as I found most bind to any product less than the 3M I have from Cooperflags.

It came out of the paint booth today, so I snapped acouple of shots. Will be picking it up tomorrow afternoon, and then will start slowly getting it put back together.

Very nice. My stripes aren't right on the edge of the bonnet though.
Maybe you can do another Vegas visit before next AMVIV and we can introduce the Minis to each other? My subframe is (finally) reassembled and installed. Now I just have to finish the brakes and weld and install the exhaust.
Did you get your Minilites with the car? I have discovered that I need a couple of center caps for mine.

The stripes are actually about 1/4 inch in from the edge. Kinda hard to tell in the pic though. Sounds like you have abit of work ahead of you. Making progress though . I'm not sure if the classic mini will make it back to vegas before the next AMVIV, I need to get it running better. (its in the plans though). Yes the minilites came with the car..... I have some extra parts, but I dont recall seeing any center caps.

Worth asking though.
If you don't mind me asking...how much did the paintjob run you?

Another update....

I finally finished getting everything put back together (ok almost, still have a few goodies to put on), and thought I would share the latest pics.

Front View

Rear (Boot)

Whole car

While it was down I replaced the radiator with a racing one and colder thermosat. Cant believe the difference that made . Also now has XM, and alot of extra chrome thingies that are still being added. This is my wifes daily driver (replacing the tacoma in the background of one of the pics) , I'm just the mechanic, but I do get to test drive, and borrow it sometimes . All in all its a great car, and I'm learning alot.

Oh, Agro the paint job cost 2k, and it will be there for AMVIV IV. (hopefully I wont spend the whole day Friday working on it like this year)

Looks gorgeous. I like the plate, though maybe you should have gone with XXS MINI?
That is a BIG exhaust on there. Looks like it's hanging kinda low. I'm guessing that with a whole year to get the kinks out, rather than a couple of weeks, the car will be much less work at AMVIV4. Looking forward to seeing it up close and personal. Make sure you contact me when you hit Vegas. We'll meet up.
