I am going to be swapping in a 1275 cc egine in my 75 austin mini and am starting to gather up all of the other miscellaneous bits. I was looking for sggestion on what type of carb i should get. The car is just my weekend fun car and not a daily driver if that makes a difference. The more details the better. Thanks for your help as always

You'll find that a single 1 3/4" SU will perform as well as the Weber for all practical street applications plus be less expensive and problematic to set up correctly. And you won't have to chop/modify your firewall to fit it. This seems to be the prevalent opinion by the likes of Keith Calver and other racers/engine builders.
I ran one on my 1380cc and it was more than adequate. Again, I suggest searching the thread topic & tech sections @ minimania.com for answers. This has all been thoroughly discussed before.

but yes...they obviously do work well if you want to make the jump farther away from 'original'
I have an SU-HIF-6 on a 1275 with LCB and 'breathing' is not a problem while still getting about 36 mpg highway (on 10" wheels & stock tranny)

I'll second (or third) the HIF 44 (1 3/4 SU). I had a 40DCOE on my Mini for years without having had to modify the firewall. The Weber looked and sounded better but the SU is just so much simpler to set up correctly. With the Weber I moved from sea level to 5,200 feet and back to 2000 feet, and even with a BIG bag of parts I always needed more parts to get it right...emulsion tubes, chokes, air correction jets, main jets, well you get the idea. And with each of those you needed 2 of each. You get a tad less performance with the SU then the Weber but that is assuming you have the Weber set up right.
A 45 Weber is overkill for any street mini with a 1275cc engine...you won't see any performance benefit on the street plus the firewall modifications and again the setup factor just makes it a poor choice even if you choke it down.
