$%*&*$ CHOKE CABLE!

help. this is about the 8th time this has happened to me. the **** on the choke cable comes off. i have tried and tried to be gentle with it but it always seems to break off.

is anyone else having this problem? the only solution that i have considered is installing a newer choke cable from a rover mini but that would entail too much modification for me. plus it doesn't match.

any thoughts mini people?

i've tried that with gorilla glue. there are two problems with that... first, the **** is soft plastic and when it brakes off, it crumbles. second, the what remains once the **** is broken off is a metal cable which doesn't easily bond with the plastic.

am i doing this wrong?

Concur that once the plastic pulls off you are sol. And I'd concur that I just ordered one from Mini-Sport and I don't like it. But I also ordered a heater cable and that is a perfect match for what's in my 79. I'm gonna order another heater cable and just blank out the markings. I won't have the twist lock feature, but the new cable I bought doesn't have that either. Heck. a generic lawn mower cable would work....

well, one of those that can handle actual use would be great. i've bought about 8 of those in the last year. i think i'm going to try a lawn mower cable.

I guess I've bben lucky with the choke cable, but I've had terrible luck with throttle cables. The damn things get sticky on me. I've been known to carry a bungee cord and use it to pull the gas pedal off the floor. It works great, but it looks a little wonky. I've had a good cable for about 5 months now.

Golly gee

I have no problems cable wise with my 79

I'm feeling mighty lucky

Actually since replacing the pos battery with an optima red top, flushing the cooling system and torquing everything to where it should be my most significant problems have been bird poop and purely cosmetic rust that can be solved with 5 minutes of sanding and brushed touch-up paint.

Maybe I should shut up now
