ceramic coated head
ceramic coated head
The head belongs to this guy http://www.drjing.com The gold is a ceramic made to protect against 2000 degrees F. The silver leaning heavily towards lavender is a super slick, as in slippery, nylon, teflon... coating. Oil won't stick to it, water,air... It transfers heat well. Definetly better than paint. Good corrosion resistance. Works fine in brake fluid. It does have its own Kriptonite issue, actually 3. Don't pee on it, or heat it over 500 degrees F & don't leave it under UV light for more than 5 months. So if you leave your hood closed & don't have mice with weak bladders & don't live in Hell, this coating is great.
The gold on the valves exhaust ports & combustion chamber is ceramic whereas the silver is teflon. On a classic mini using the ceramic coating here & the tops of the pistons helps them run cooler. Now if you throw on a turbo it can save your engine.
