How does he do that?
Good thing that mini can only go about 45 mph
But it turns like I've never seen before.
Do you think it's got heavy brake bias to the front?
Thanks much!!!!

Wow that's really cool!!! You notice how much smaller the wheels in the back are though?? Atleast they seem smaller. I wonder if that helps.

How the hell do you do donuts like that in a front wheel drive?!?!?
If you strip the interior of a classic and take out the spare tyre, you'd probably have close to a 90% front weight distribution. There's nothing in the back end. I once checked the tyre pressures on one of my classics 'cause the front looked low. Fronts were fine. The rear drivers side had 4 pounds. Yes, FOUR. Looked fully inflated. That's why the rear tyres on classic Minis rot before they wear out.
Thanks for posting the link. That driving kicks ****!!!

since the emergency brake, when applied, only locks up the rear wheels, that is how this is done.Get your self to an empty parking lot with some snow on it and give it a try. it's a real hoot. NOW being able to do what this guy was doing ,and on dry pavement .................that's another thing alltogether and the stoppie at the end HOLY CRAP!

Okay . . . I'm IMPRESSED!
That is som' EXCELLENT MINIing! Never thought you could do that in a FWD! I like the post from hlodenontoit about trying the moves in and empty parking lot with snow. Not much chance of that here in Honolulu unfortunately!

One thing that appears to be helping is his wheel and tire selection. Thos erears look like stock 145/10's while on the front he has " big " 12's or possibley 13 inch wheels. Amazing driver in any event,Randy
Its rear wheel drive guys. Look how the rears spin while he is doing the rotation. Front wheel with ebrake wouldnt do that. It is most likely a bike swap which is not that uncommon for classics. I have this movie:

Which has a 400bhp Hayabusa Turbo-powered Mini! Crazy stuff.

I may be wrong but I don’t believe it is a bike engine. The straight-cut gearbox whine and A-Series engine sound is all too familiar (I am probably have hearing loss from driving such a car for several years.) I have seen a few stunt cars such as this and they are set up with independent brakes on all four wheels. Rather than handbrake-sliding into a turn at high speeds – like the Italian Job cars – the brakes are applied so that one wheel is nearly stopped in a turn and the others roll around it. My dad's dunebuggy was like that but I was terrified to drive it!
Fun on a Go Kart
I just got back from a few days of driving a Go Kart on a small track.
Rear wheel drive, small sticky tires and tons of stop on a dime handling.
I can drive just like the video albeit at one third the speed
I could not get my panic stopping to toss the rear end up though
Hey, the go kart had a rear engine mount.

On closer examination, I see he's shortened the car by about 6 inches, which in itself makes for a quick turning Mini! I think he has a fly-off handbrake, as well, his hands aren't out of view very long. He's running 12 inch wheels up front and standard 10 inchers on the back, and he must've set up the gearing VERY low. The old 'A' series was pretty torquey, so he prolly never gets outta 2nd gear. ;-)
