Looks Like I am getting a new car!

Well... I have an accepted offer on a Classic min Cooper. The sale is to be finalized this weekend contingent on a thorough once over and a test drive. I'll attach some pics below. Let me know what yall think, and I'll let you guys know when/if it's official.

Very Nice. I would love to own one but i am sure i wouldn't fit inside.

What year is it? The wheels look great who makes them? What kind of millage does it get.

Night driving should be no problem even if you have a head light go out or 2 or 3 or 4.

It's not finalized yet. I'll be test driving it hopefully Saturday, and then if it goes well, and all is sound, I'll be bringing it home that evening.

It's a 1989 Classic Mini 30.
998cc (1.0L) 4 cylinder engine with 25,000 original miles
13x6 Minilite Wheels on the car (only a few hundred miles on them)
4 12x5 wheels and tires that go with the car (in great shape)
It was repainted before it came to the states and the paint is in great shape
Bonnet stripes on the hood (which are removable decals)
Sony cd player with rockford fosgate 10 inch sub and amp in the trunk, 6x9s under rear seats
New full dash ordered and shipped from the UK
Momo steering wheel
Aftermarket middle counsel
Rally lights on front grill
Group 5 wheel arches
Tinted windows

You'd be suprised...Big Norm is 7' tall and there are also some super-sized guys driving Minis. (I almost qualify, certainly after the holidays)

what do you mean by a long way off?I'm assuming you mean that in a good way.

Yes, it does have the cloth center, and leather outside seats.

It's a well kept mini, and I believe he's a member on here. Minivespa..
If he stumbles upon this thread, he may chime in and tell us a little more.

haha. I'll be at his house on Friday more than likely with a trailer, and cash in hand. Sorry, but Norm can tell you.. I've been hunting for well over a year with his help, and years before that. I think I've found my mini.

My loan is approved, and I'm just waiting on a check to be sent to me in the mail. Once I get the Check... I'll be making my way over to see him on Friday to check it out for a final look over, and then hopefully... I'll be the owner of my very first mini. WOO HOO!!!

On a side note... does anyone know exactly what needs to be done in this situation?

He is the name on the title, and his father is on there as a "Transfer On Death" beneficiary... so do I legally need both of them to sign the title in order to have it transferred into my name, or is only the owner's name sufficient?

I need help ASAP!!!

I've been approved for my loan, but now they are going to revoke because their lazy assessor is saying they can't find it in their database.

Can someone tell me where I can find the book value of a mini? It isn't on Kelly Blue Book... The loan assessor can't find the value so he won't give me the loan because they can't find the value.

The book value should be in there. When i purchased mine a month ago we found the nada value. You may have them check under there. It was listed under morris, but ours is a 1971 model. I don't know what kind of rate you are getting ,but i got a home equity loan for ours and it was 4.5 % interest which was a lot better than a used car loan, also check out haggerty.com for insurance and they give loans too about 7.5%. The low book on a 71 model with around 10,000 on nada. I just looked for you though, and on nada under rover model it goes to 1980, and for the Austin and Morris minis it only goes to 1975. I will keep looking for you though.

Thank you. I've been on NADA today too and can't seem to find it. I do have a friend that owns a classic car consignment place here. It is gigantic, and they work with a few banks in order to get people their loans on classics. So last resort, I'll talk to him. He's got a 1960 mini sitting there going for 9,000. (Gatewayclassiccars.com)

I REALLY want this car, but now I'm gonna have to wait till Friday to talk to the banks seeing as they won't be open tomorrow. The universe is working against me on this mini, but I'm gonna fight my hardest to get it. I'm just concerned that Minivespa is going to not want to wait for me to get this taken care of (Hopefully by the end of friday) and he'll sell it to someone else.. That'd really ruine my Christmas.

Is this the same mini currently on ebay? Sure looks like the same pics. Take a close look at the rust issues on this car.At least the pics in the boot photo appear to have some issue in the spare tire well.Could be ok but I did notice it in that particular photo(under the speaker in the boot) Good luck either way.(check around the headlights while you are at it)

I know all the normal rust areas to check, and the seller is pretty great and straight forward. There is some surface rust in the boot. And a couple little bubbles. All in all it seems fairly clean. I fully intend to buy it, but right now, procuring the loan is the issue.

That mini is very nice. I've checked it out myself and it doesn't have any big rust spots on it just the bubbles but it is in excellent shape. It did have an overheating problem when he bought it but I told him to flush out the radiator and it doesn't seem to be having any other problems. I haven't driven the car but I know Ryan has driven it around everywhere in Kansas City.

hey everyone! yup, thats my car. i haven't been on here in a few days and looks like i could have chimed in a bit.

im essentially holding the car until MtyMous gets the funds together unless something huge happens and he can't take it home.

yup, my Mini30 has 13x6's on it now, but I have the 12x5 alloys as well that go with the car.
