Stripped & ready for Bodywork/Paint
Stripped & ready for Bodywork/Paint
The day has arrived and the trailer is on its way to pick up the Mini. This week it will be at a shop being media blasted - then its on to the body work. I'll post some pictures after its been blasted. Target date for return after painting is mid to late Jan.

ImagoX,
The taking apart was not too bad - it's the putting together that will be fun. I am just hoping that I do not have any "spare" parts
I see your are in Dublin, OH. We moved from Powell to an area north of Detroit about 18 months ago. I saw your post about motorin' around the Dublin area. The Brazenhead was one of my personal favorite motorin' stops
Never saw another classic on the roads in the Columbus area. Lots of MINI's with Dublin-Mini close by. Bought my '05 PW/B Cooper S there.
Elprofe,
The engine is being cleaned up, new gaskets, checked for any potential problems, new hoses, and it will be painted the traditional mini engine colors. The engine is being handled by a local shop that specializes in classic british cars. The owner has owned about 8 mini's - including an original Cooper S that he still drives. In the meantime, I am working on cleaning, painting, and rebuilding all of the other items - wiper motor, clutch master, brake master, etc. The front subframe is going to be powder coated and completely refurbished. I am debating on whether to put in Hi-Lo's or just reinstall the original suspension system. I have about 8 weeks to get all of the parts ready for the engine bay and rebuild the subframe, steering rack, etc.
Lovethecorners,
The car will more than likely be painted blue (shade/color to be determined) with a black roof - no checkerboard planned at this time. My kids are in favor of the blue - however, they think I am doing the car dark grey with a black roof (therefore, they think dad is kinda boring). I am planning on the MINI style black stripes with the white pin stripe edge made of course for a mini. I am thinking both bonnet and boot stripes.
When I bought the car, it had just been brought over from England. I picked it up in Georgia and drove it to Ohio. The orange color and white checkboard roof was a big hit driving through the Knoxville area!!
I should get the car back from stripping in a few days. I will post some pix when I see it.

Hey Matt I'll help you pull your car to pieces.
That is the easy part. The hard part is taking all of those pieces, refurbishing them all & making them back into a car.
It can be done. but it is a hard long process. I admire anyone that can do it.
