Try this color guide to see what best fits. Lighting in pics can be tricky.

Sorry Norm, I think it would be Island Blue - BU5
given that it is an external hinge car. Atlantic Blue is 1988 - on.

It could easily be a one-off variation of Island Blue...looks darker than some examples I've seen. So hard to tell precisely.

Island Blue does look close. I saw a Mini in Mar '07 Mini Magazine that caught my eye as a potential color for my repaint. I've been waffling on a color for a couple of months now. Won't be long before I have to commit. If I can scan the picture I will post it - however, photos and lighting make all these things hard to judge.

Big Norm,

Thanks for posting the picture. I have never had a car painted before. Are the different variants based on actual Mini paint codes or are they just a function of the paint manufacturer and their particular formula?

I really like the darker blue that I found in the Mini Magazine and in the picture I posted a link to. What's the best way to go about getting a paint code or getting a match closer to the color you are looking for?

Thanks!

Lighting and camera sensitivity severely effect the colors. Island Blue is most likely the color. Yes, it will vary by manufacturer. Your body supply house can tint it (lighter/darker) to suit your preference.

its worth spending a few extra bucks and have them mix you a pint that way you can actually see the color....if it's wrong you can change it before buying a gallon of something you dont need...
